COLLECTOR SYSTEM 1.0 In the spirit of transparency and to provide some quick thoughts/context, I want to dive into CS 1.0 a bit: - Why CS? - Early post-launch reactions - Where are we going WHY CS? The idea for the CS is rooted in the question: How can we best ensure that holders feel valued? The difficulty in solving this problem lies in the fact that people define value in many different ways; some are here for vibes/community, some for the long term product vision, some for the speculation. So, the idea of delivering value needs to somehow cut across all of this. Furthermore, we’re subject to a lot of constraints; holders have been through a lot (down bad), markets have already assigned perceived values, and holders *across* and *within* collections all have very different scales of investments and expectations. So, as the CS was designed, we wanted to establish a few guiding principles: - Double down on what makes Azuki great: COLLECTIBILITY. Early on, the biggest differentiator Azuki was always its IP, and the ensuing collectibility that resulted. As a private collector, I (like many other friends from the early days) spent endless hours scanning the collection and vibing over the nuances. This made living in Azuki fun, and we wanted to revive that. - Respect lore, structure, and history: When making decisions on how the points system should work and what values should be, we thought it would be very important to rely on 1) foundational lore enshrined since the start (eg the focus on animals + elemental traits), 2) structure (leverage the existing trait model rather than trying to introduce new complexity on top), and 3) use historical pricing history to guide point values. Ultimately, the depth of the collection meant that not literally every trait could be individually scored, but we hope we’ve found a good compromise. - Respect the markets. Markets are a powerful force, and have already “weighed” the value of collections. Trying to brute force new value ratios would likely end up causing a lot of disruption, so we wanted to minimize that for the most part. Ultimately, the goal for CS was to establish a foundation that gave us the tools and levers to make sure that we can put depth and structure around rewards. And the CS now does exactly this; instead of just being forced to think of rewards as simply one collection vs. another, we now can customize rewards amongst many factors: Emblem (eg Azuki vs. Elemental, Gifted vs Beastmaster), Tier (eg Grand vs. Esteemed), Level (1-5), Traits, Rank (eg Order #26), and of course Score. So going forward, don’t expect everything to follow the same playbook. We’re going to try to mix things up every once in a while to keep things fun and interesting.
