A Hyderabad startup just built India's own mini jet engine for target drones Paninian India has unveiled the Yantur TJ1.6, a compact indigenous turbojet, to power the Svayatt-TD1 decoy drone. The Svayatt-TD1 mimics the radar and heat signature of enemy aircraft and missiles, so Indian air defence crews can train against realistic threats. In an actual war, the same drone could confuse enemy radars and burn through their missile stocks. This is a private company, not DRDO, building its own engine family from scratch.
