Trotsky's most valuable work comes as a military leader. The creation of modern, standing army of the proletariat the peasantry is no small feat and he was instrumental in its formation, although obviously it wasn't done single handedly.

i agree with this 100% but there still is immense merit in developing a counterhegemonic cultural presence against both the prevalent decadence of bourgeois culture and the persistence of revisionist and opportunistic "left" and liberal elements

To build a movement in Peru the PCP didn't stay in Lima’s Marxist circles they went to the countryside. The CPPh didn't debate revisionists in Manila, they went to the masses. The only way to win hegemony among the “left” is by organizing the working class for revolution.
