@persianofntrest @FrischJoelynn @JackMarkham17 It also brought up how they had homesickness and struggled with getting assistance from government programs. (p. 364) They were so self-sufficient in the mountains, I could see where the big adjustment would be difficult #ch15msea

@massiel_school A3: I think people are so quick to group these cultures together because they seem so different from us on the surface. And if they make it to work for large companies, that’s when we look at them with more care. #ch15msea

#CH15MSEA Q3: Why do you think we are so quick to group all these different cultures (Vitemense, Cambodians, and Laos) together when they clearly have many differences? What are some of these differences?

@FrischJoelynn @MattLyn41673336 Yes, the feeling of belonging was very important to the American Dream. It also states in that section on page 312 that they also "searched for a belonging in a country where owning property is a direct tie". #pgeog

@MattLyn41673336 I think that the American Dream meant belonging and it helped them feel like they could achieve that sense of belonging by living in a suburb like Daly City! #pgeog

The article talks about how the Diocese of Green Bay and the Archdiocese of Caceres, located in the Philippines, have worked together to bring much needed priests over to the Diocese of Green Bay. It also brings the Filipino priest perspective on how different it is here #pgeog

Here is an interesting article I found that relates to the area of Wisconsin that I live and that SNC is located. The church that I attend, St. Michaels in Keshena, Wisconsin, is officiated by 3-4 Filipino priests. #pgeog

@MagerSkye @MattLyn41673336 I agree, they didn't settle in ethnoburbs because of their high education and quality English speaking skills! #pgeog

Q2: Explain how Filipino settlement patterns were different from other enthic groups we talked about earlier? Do you think their settlement patterns were effective?#pgeog

@IanMcDowell13 On page 304, the educational prospects here in the US were a great advantage for the Filipinos. With that, attendance at universities soared, but then decreased because some went back to their home instead of staying here.

What are the different push and pull factors of the Filipino diaspora? Why do you think the Filipinos from the chapter migrated to America? #pgeog

@SpotifyCares I am being incorrectly charged $10 a month instead of $5 with the Student Premium. How do I fix this?
