People like to call themselves “lifelong Republicans,” but their social media feeds are almost always indistinguishable from the most deranged, cable news addicted Boomer Lib.
Chuck Jones@chuckwjones3

I am looking forward to voting for @jamestalarico in November. As a lifelong Republican it is a simple choice. Character matters not party. Ken Paxton and John Cornyn do not deserve the privilege to represent the Great State of Texas in the United States Senate.

@HumphreyBohun @DastDn It will depend on who Dems nominate. Harris/AOC/Newsom? He’s got a better than even shot. Kelly/Beshear/Shapiro? 60-40 against.

@DastDn 1) He’s running 2) Amazed that intelligent informed people can doubt that he’s a lock 3) Of course he CAN win the GE, but will be an underdog and will need the Democrats to lose it (which they may).

People should stop investing their hopes in the idea that: 1. Vance is not going to run for nomination. 2. Vance can't possibly win the general election. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

In an interview with CNN on Monday, Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) says he finds Graham Platner's tattoo disqualifying and hopes Maine voters agree with him Auchincloss: “I find that tattoo and his commentary about it to be personally disqualifying. I hope Maine voters agree with me.” #MaineSenate

@billybinion “Health optimization” is exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a varied diet, managing stress, and not smoking. That’s it.

I feel about “optimization culture” the same way I feel about “self care.” They’re cloaked in health terms but have mostly become blanket excuses to be self-obsessed and (ironically) unhealthy. Desist.

The Submarine Force had the highest casualty rate of all American forces in WW2. One in 5 submariners gave their lives; 52 boats and 3,506 men remain on eternal patrol. Subs made up less than 2% of the US Navy but sank nearly 60% of all Japanese shipping. #MemorialDay

@20committee Haig was enormously popular! It was only with his death and Lloyd George’s self-serving memoir that he was remembered as inept.

It's the ridiculous Alan Clark approach to fake history buttressed by 1960s Western countercultural self-loathing. It has nothing to do with the actual WW1. British soldiers during the war and in the decades after didn't believe they were led by donkeys. x.com/gerardtbaker/s…
Gerard Baker@gerardtbaker

Loved Blackadder but this portrayal was more lazy cliche than genius. Serious historians have long since debunked the “lions led by donkeys” myth; stupid, heartless generals sending helpless fodder over the top. Classic promotion of a self-loathing lie by British cultural elites
