@cardiacset A masterpiece of an essay! There were so many layers to peel and all made sense in the end

An eye-opening read. Take the time to read this essay on Colonialism, Neocolonialism, and how both shape the nuanced modern perception towards vulgarity in our mother tongue. Some of my personal bookmarks.

As promised, an essay on this subject, and my first Substack of the year. I argue that it’s not just that we’re moaning in English because of colonialism and neocolonialism, but that indigenous languages are becoming extinct. Read, comment, share. open.substack.com/pub/abasimaeny…

@gaustfce I’m personally in awe at her insights; the historical context and implications on our tendencies to turn towards english profanities, more than our native language, is such an insightful read.
Personally, native profanities weigh more than english. They carry more emotion.

Today I was thinking about the linguistics of sex and how we find it difficult to moan in indigenous languages, one of the insidious and long-lasting linguistic violence remnant of colonialism and neocolonialism by grafting sex lingo from Hollywood films.

@goqojuice Grab an iced coffee with three pumps of white mocha. Soy milk with less ice. One of my go-to coffee on the road. 🙌🏻
