I’m paying for “replacement coverage.” Supposedly this will cover rebuilding my home as it is. That’s what the policy says. But the amount listed in the policy is nowhere near what it would cost to actually replace it. Real brick, not facing. Fine plaster with wide coves on every ceiling. Actual hardwood floors throughout the entire house. 7-9 ft picture windows in 4 rooms. Full basement. According to the insurance company $173k will cover it.

@MatrixMysteries Every year I increase coverage to keep pace with increasing rebuild costs, as everyone should. Any good insurance agent will prompt you to do so. Insurance (absent fraud) isn't a scam. It's more of an expensive hedge bet. Learn up and gamble wisely.
