A friend asked me why I was still on the platform. I fell in love with Twitter because it was full of weirdos, sci-fi geeks, coders, hackers, poets, futurists, writers, nerds and insomniacs. My feed was pretty wonderful because of who I follow and what I engage with. I express love and joy whenever possible. I report, block and mute fuckwittery. I still find amazing stories and storytellers here every single day! It's exhausting though, other people yelling how shit they think platform is, while also secretly hoping for a bloody good fight to break out. Or even trying to start one!! I stay on X because it's real; it's important. it's raw zeitgeist. A mirror of the best and worst in the world. It makes me smarter and occasionally more cynical. It always makes me laugh. It's mundanity flecked with memetic moments of mischief and magic. Dipping your toe in the API of humanity. (A line I stole from someone I met here and then wrote a book with, because this place is awesome) So if you're still here but unsure of your purpose consider being more intentional about what and who you reward with your incredibly valuable attention. Be intentional about what ideas you put into the world and who you choose to amplify. You make a real difference. Loads of people on here are doing just that. Imagine if everyone did? I guess as X becomes more mainstream and less about the geeks and freaks I connected with it will continue to change. I'm very interested to know into what. I think X is like the sea - vast, beautiful, and occasionally quite treacherous. Always changing. But like all the most interesting, slightly dangerous things - worthwhile. Anyway. That's why I'm still here.

@DocDulla @aobrienfansite Awww ya poor thing.. if it gets too uncomfortable it sometimes helps to cool yourself down by using an umbrella.. they usually come in a glass with lots of ice and some funny liquid stuff? Maybe a few of them might help?

Threw my back out on Friday evening trying to lift a very small bag off the back seat of my car. Not the first time I've done it, but the first in a while. I'm knackered and narky and oscillating between self-pity and raging at everything on my to do list. Pray for my loved ones who have to put up with me this week.
