America turns 250 today. Let me read back the resume. We started by telling a king to pound sand, in writing. By 1803 we bought half a continent from France for about four cents an acre. We fought a war with ourselves and somehow stayed one country. We strung a railroad across the entire thing. We handed the world the lightbulb, the telephone, and the airplane in about thirty years flat. Then a man named Willis Carrier invented air conditioning and made half the planet actually livable. You are welcome, Texas. You are welcome, Dubai. Twice the whole world caught fire, and twice we showed up and helped put it out. We split the atom. We put men on the moon in 1969. Then we went back and hit golf balls up there, because why not. We invented jazz, blues, rock and roll, and hip-hop, and the whole planet is still dancing to it. We put a burger and fries on every corner of the earth. We built rockets that fly themselves home and land standing straight up. We flew a helicopter on Mars. We launched a car into actual space and it is still out there cruising. We also invented ranch dressing and somehow talked the entire world into putting it on pizza. Priorities. We even invented three of our own sports so we could win them. Baseball, basketball, and football. Real football, the kind with hands, because we named it and we are not taking corrections. The rest of the planet can keep soccer, which is fine, we are hosting it in our backyard this summer anyway. And yes, Canadian football exists, wider field, extra man, one fewer down, and we try very hard not to think about it. Frankly it was generous of us to invent our own games. If we put all that energy into soccer, nobody else would ever lift that trophy again. We would win it so often they would just rename it the America’s Cup and hand us the keys. You are welcome for the suspense. And in 2026 we threw a birthday so big a German tourist live-tweeted our gas stations to 750,000 people. Not every chapter was clean. We argued, we stumbled, we fixed what we broke, and we kept building. That is the whole trick. Two hundred and fifty years in, and we are still the loudest, brightest, most improbable experiment on the map. Not bad for a country that started as a strongly worded letter to a king. Happy birthday, America. 🦋

@staro_sphere @RawrRawr0221 @PalmtreePanic Cool, and just to be clear no one here is looking for any drama. No hard feelings, no animosity. Geek culture can often feel like an us vs them thing. We all want MCB to be successful. Would have never bothered with it if we didn’t actually LIKE the concept as well!

@staro_sphere @RawrRawr0221 @PalmtreePanic I would just suggest maybe hang tight and not just assume the worst all the time? There’s a lot of things going on behind the scenes. There’s issues with how products are being imported into the U.S. I’m sure much will be addressed at the MCB panel. With some cool announcements.

@staro_sphere @RawrRawr0221 @PalmtreePanic It only takes a minute to correct misinformation. I mean, you’ve got one person in this thread repeating old defamatory nonsense from a few people who had a problem with me professionally years ago (I’ve worked with hundreds of people).

@staro_sphere @RawrRawr0221 @PalmtreePanic Man, do you guys ever quit? Attendance is actually tracking at the best it has been since Agabyss took over. This is also the most vendors at BotCon this decade. I mean, if you’re gonna comment on stuff, please at least know what you’re talking about.

Danny McBride says his ‘G.I. JOE’ movie will hopefully begin filming next year. The film will follow Duke and a group of other Joes in a town called Springfield that is secretly all Cobra. (Source: @joshuahorowitz)

I gotta say, truly amazing. I told the AI to put Arcee on a bed, draw inspiration from the Pulp Fiction poster and the BotCon 1996 program, and then to make it modern sexy. Did this in less than a minute. Cant believe it was so easy… (I guess I should say that was a joke.)
BotCon ‘26 - Chicago, July 10-12@BotCon

Transformers Sunbow Season 5 Continued! It is the year 1988. You just finished watching the last of the Transformers "G1" Season 5 recap episodes featuring NEW live-action segments starring Jason Jansen as Tommy Kennedy and Peter Cullen as Powermaster Optimus Prime. Twenty episodes that told the overall story of the Transformers from Season 1 through Season 4. Those recap episodes were it though. No "new" follow up episodes. No appearances from the 1988 toy line... until now! BotCon Unlimited Issue #5 brings you the first two NEW episodes from Transformers Season 5 Continued. The BotCon Annual Comic Magazine will now include a yearly comic anthology that will explore the untold stories from across the multiverse. This years edition will feature Transformers Sunbow Season 5 Episode 24, Transformers Sunbow Season 5 Episode 28, and Transformers RID Battle Protocol featuring the characters from this year's BotCon Exclusive VS set. 1/3

@FansprojectFan They literally look for anything now. It’s so weird. There isn’t any real reason for them to be horrible, so they just keep making up narratives. Guess that’s how people that need attention function.

And as someone who has commissioned a shit ton of art from REAL LIVE HUMANS for the past 5 years, and have told various companies they should steer clear of AI for art, maybe it’s best to know wtf you are talking about :).

@TF_Moments It’s always a shame when you have to explain a joke. The image was in response to this post about AI. The prompts were make blue and black, add butterflies, add solar flare. To make it as awful as possible. This corner of the fandom never disappoints I guess…

@TehXandre @Alex_Fedderly @RobProvince Also true lol. Lobo wasn’t enough to save Supergirl. Should have called it Supergirl & Lobo lol. Not sure that would have made much of a difference though as neither character is an A-list movie comic character.

@Alex_Fedderly @ptsinclair06 @RobProvince Those other movies arent in the same building as Fury Road, which had a strong female lead but was also full of strong male characters doing strong male shit with monster trucks and flame guitars.

Here’s my NOT a review of #Supergirl, but an autopsy of why it failed. First, it’s a girl boss movie in an era where the market for that got saturated post Harvey Weinstein. It’s started with Lady Ghostbusters 10 years ago and Hollywood just can’t accept that Fetch just isn’t going to happen.

@Alex_Fedderly @RobProvince In this market, you are not going to make the money needed to make a profit on these big budget “girl boss” movies, aimed at who exactly? Women showed up in larger numbers for Barbie. They ain’t showing up in the same for Supergirl. That’s just the reality of today.

@Alex_Fedderly @RobProvince Fury Road was good. Have not seen Furiosa mainly because I wasn’t interested in seeing a prequel. That’s a whole nother conversation. Concepts that are played out. Though I did like Prey. Which to the OP’s point, was made for 1/3 of Supergirl. You need to know your audience.
