GameStop $GME is a B2C specialty retail business. That means they buy products from manufacturers and distributors, and sell it directly to the end consumer. Over the weekend, a handful of Pokemon reselling businesses, which are mostly small mom & pops or sole proprietors, spread a bunch of lies about GameStop. They said that GameStop was “scalping”. But if you look up the definition of the word, you’ll quickly realize something very different is actually happening. These reselling businesses built their entire business around actually scalping customers, by buying from retailers and marking up to end consumers. But now, retailers are having to adjust their mark ups due to macroeconomic changes and due to their fight back against predatory scalping and reselling. This caused reselling businesses to get mad, and smear GameStop using outright lies and hilarious Freudian slips. They are cooked and need to find a real job. One of those lies is that GME is sitting on unwanted inventory, derived from pics of employees receiving inventory ahead of the 11/28 Phantasmal restock/drop. They literally can’t sell these before the drop date, which is 2 weeks from the original drop on 11/14. The 2 week restock is always the case with new drops. I understand wanting to fight back when your small business is hurting, but I’d be careful to not end up with a crushed business AND a defamation lawsuit.

@pokepullzhq @gamestop Stores selling at market it’s fine. It gives the people everyone complains about no margins to make money. Your options are: 1. Stores sell at MSRP and resellers buy everything and sell it at market. 2. Store sells at market and resellers go away. Which do you prefer?

@WallStreetMav I appreciate that CA and FL have different strategies. CA uses their fees to pay for public transportation and for safety initiatives and that saves lives. CA has 10.4 traffic deaths per 100K persons and FL has 15 per 100K. You are more likely to die from on the road in FL.
