airdrops don't build communities. they rent them. unless you do it right. which almost nobody does. most airdrop campaigns follow the same script. follow, retweet, tag three friends, join discord. numbers spike overnight. team celebrates. two weeks later the discord is dead and half the followers are bots. that's not a community. that's a leaderboard of people who wanted free tokens. the problem isn't the airdrop mechanic itself. it's that most projects use it as a substitute for community building instead of a reward for it. they run the campaign before anyone actually cares about the project. so the people who show up don't care either. they care about the drop. the projects that have made airdrops actually work did one thing differently. they built a real community first. people who believed in the product, engaged consistently, stuck around during the quiet periods. then the airdrop rewarded those people. sequence again. always the sequence. an airdrop at the end of genuine community building is a celebration. an airdrop at the beginning is just renting an audience you'll lose the moment the tokens hit their wallets. most projects can't tell the difference until it's too late. which airdrop actually built something real in your opinion? Curious if anyone has a good example.

ngl the X subscription system is a literal joke ive got $160+ in unsettled earnings and theyre telling me its below the minimum 💀 first, you wait an entire month for payouts and even then, no clarity on whether youll actually get paid second, theres a $50 minimum threshold just to trigger a payout 90% of the creators never hit that threshold and the platform just keeps 100% of it feels less like a creator system and more like a filter to not pay smaller accounts theyve given me $50 in the last 4 months lol they seriously need to fix this

If AI cuts development costs by 80% then companies will have massive budgets freed up Where do you think that money will go? It goes to marketing, content, and distribution We're about to see the biggest shift in spending in decades and most people aren't paying attention

We have raised $8M to bring AI into your group chats. shapes.inc is the next-gen whatsapp, re-imagined to be AI first. Our life runs in group chats - it’s only natural for AI agents to join us in these conversations. Multiplayer AI is the next frontier for agentic systems. Excited to come out of stealth after 3.5 years of building and over 1B+ conversations.

A US court is suing a DAO for $71 MILLION. The same $71 MILLION the DAO recovered for the victims. A few days ago I posted about crypto not being as decentralized as people think and it turns out I was more right than I knew. On April 18 the KelpDAO bridge was drained for $292 MILLION. The attacker was Lazarus Group. North Korea. Arbitrum’s Security Council used emergency powers to freeze 30,766 $ETH on chain. Roughly $71 MILLION. Not to keep it. To return it to the people who lost it. Then on May 1 a restraining notice from the Southern District of New York landed on the Arbitrum governance forum. It was trying to seize that exact $71 MILLION. Not the hacker’s wallet but the recovered money. Funds already earmarked for the victims. The people trying to seize the money aren’t KelpDAO users. They are American families who sued North Korea in US court years ago after their relatives were kidnapped and killed by the regime. They won. The court ordered Pyongyang to pay them more than $877 MILLION in damages. North Korea has never paid a cent. So when Lazarus Group, which is run by the North Korean state, stole $292 MILLION from KelpDAO, those families saw an opportunity. Their argument is that the stolen $ETH is technically North Korean money and since North Korea owes them, the frozen funds should pay down that debt. The entire point of DeFi was that no single entity could walk in and say stop. Not a court, a bank or a government. Yet here we are. The court isn’t wrong for trying. The fact that it can try at all is the point. The second a small group of people had the power to freeze those funds, the system became something the law could touch. DeFi has spent a decade arguing it isn’t a bank. The first time it acted like one, the courts arrived.

aave: yo arbitrum, send back the $71m you get from the hacker, we need it arbitrum: chill, we’re voting on it, you’ll have it in a few days. defi united, remember? aave: bet. love that for us (suddenly, american lawyers show up) plaintiffs: stop right there. that $71m is ours now aave: excuse me?? plaintiffs: we have old judgments against north korea. the hacker was lazarus group. lazarus is north korea. therefore the funds belong to north korea. therefore we seize them aave: wait. do you have proof it was north korea? plaintiffs: yeah, tweets aave: …tweets plaintiffs: and a news article aave: but even if it was them, holding stolen funds for 5 minutes doesn’t make you the owner?? plaintiffs: yes it does aave: so if i smash a tiffany’s window, grab a diamond, and a bystander grabs it back from me, your creditor friends can seize the diamond? plaintiffs: correct arbitrum: uhh… what are we supposed to do here plaintiffs: don’t move. everything’s frozen aave: but the funds belong to my innocent users?? plaintiffs: not our problem aave: if i lose this, nobody will ever stop a hacker again. why would they? the reward becomes a legal war with the thief’s creditors plaintiffs: not our problem aave: and sanctioned states will have an incentive to hack more, since stolen funds can pay off their old debts plaintiffs: still not our problem aave: (turns to the judge) your honor, either vacate this now, or make them post a $300m bond. we have days before the entire defi ecosystem cascades judge: (tbd)
Aave@aave

Aave LLC has filed an emergency motion to vacate a restraining notice served on Arbitrum DAO on May 1, 2026 that attempts to seize approximately $71 million in ETH belonging to victims of the April 18 exploit. A thief does not gain lawful ownership of stolen property simply by taking it, and the law is clear on this. Those assets were recovered to be returned to users victimized in the April 18, 2026 exploit. Freezing them harms the very people this recovery effort is designed to protect. We’ve asked the court for an expedited hearing and a temporary vacatur, and we are continuing to work alongside the Arbitrum community and DeFi United to make affected users whole.

Today I turn 20. Spent most of my teenage years building and working while everyone else was partying and studying. skipped the studying. Skipped the normal path. While everyone was doing what kids do, I was figuring out how to go the other way, and looking back, did that incredibly successfully so far. It led me to the best places & industry I could've ever wished for. 30+ countries. rooms I had no business being in, doing business with people my dad's age. hundreds of millions generated for my clients. life changing money made. many lives changed, mine included. Moving to Dubai is still the best decision I've ever made. but it had its cost. today is the second year in a row I'm not with my twin sister and my family to celebrate due to business (we'll do that end of month). There were many sacrifices, went broke twice, but always kept going, never ever give up. Every year compounded into the next. all of it leading to right now & onward, at 20, getting to do genuinely cool shit in the most insane and opportunity rich era of technology we've ever lived through. Grateful for all of it. the people who ride along with me. the ones who believed & invested early. the ones still here. Cheers to so much more.
