World Cup is more proof that the new Linc should be a dome Give Philly a world class sporting event (which they would get more of with a dome) and they always crush it

@ClueHeywood I want to hate this but I did get into soccer during my year abroad. In fairness it was in the UK so it was shrimp flavored potatoes chips and room temp beef at lunch. I’m awful.

Gonna be honest, I used to think less of soccer guys. Like, it felt a little arrogant and purposely countercultural, you understand the flows of the beautiful game and the rest of us don’t, you did a semester abroad and drink wine at lunch, la dee dah I still feel that way tbh

It was a great first weekend for the World Cup in the city of Philadelphia In addition to a near sell-out at Philadelphia Stadium for the match between Ecuador and Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday night (68,274), the city has reported: -more than 100,000 fans at FIFA Fan Fest’s opening weekend -more than 438,000 arriving and departing passengers at Philadelphia National Airport -18,806 free SEPTA rides from NRG following the match -7,440 riders on Philly’s PHLASH bus -25,297 Indego bike share trips Pretty solid numbers for the first weekend of a big Summer Full release from City: phila.gov/2026-06-16-phi…

What I want after this world cup is over. 1. USA to NEVER host a World Cup. 2. Infantino to be booted out. 3. Hydration Breaks to never occur when temperatures are at a certain level. 4. Ticket prices to be capped at a reasonable amount. 5. USA to NEVER host a World Cup.

@Brynbikes Here in Philadelphia it’s $2.90USD to take the subway to the match and free for the ride home. Some cities are managing the WC better than others.

Here in Perth, pretty much every single sporting event includes free public transport to and from the grounds. Just found out that in the US for world cup, not only isn't it free, but they jacked up the prices for trains and buses to the games.

Absolutely criminal this stadium is hosting the World Cup Final, especially as the Azteca was available.

Please soccer. Make the over the top dramatic flopping stop. This is a major reason soccer is not as popular here.

When I hear UK club fans refer to foreign fans of certain UK clubs as plastics or tourists, maybe you should think about how hard these World Cup kick-off times are for us now, and that this is the kind of sacrifice foreign fans make for every fixture to watch their UK club. 👍
