@travisreier Proud of you Travis. It’s crazy difficult to deny something in the immediate for short-term gain in order to have a shot at some long term benefits. I think society is full of those casualties. Thankful you had people speaking truth into your life and you listened!

Due to car accident 25 years ago, incomplete spinal cord injury, fused from T4-11. Brutal sciatica and neuropathy. Osteoarthritis from twice broken clavicle, ribs, broken ulnar and radial, broken ankle. Also, recent MRI revealed degenerative T2. Sounds awful (and it certainly isn’t fun) but I wouldn’t be here now if my case management doctor gave me what I wanted all those years ago: enough opioids to make hitting potholes not feel like I was being fed through an industrial sized shredder. Sitting in a wheelchair when the pain proved too much for the last bit of morphine I received during my stay at a trauma center, I initially hated those rehab folks with all I had. Now I couldn’t be more thankful. The pain will never entirely go away. But it’s manageable without narcotics. And I haven’t had to learn that the hard way. For that I can thank the people who essentially told me, “tough shit”. Sorry they endured two weeks of being Mofo’d lol.
