@chrisguld A3: Google Photos favorite tool is a long list☀️ I love the collage done in sec. I often use Extract Frame 🖼️ from video when I was filming vs capturing a particular moment. I just made this one from Sunday 's trip #googlepphotos #OnEBoardChat

English

#OnEBoardChat Q3: Google Photos includes a full set of basic editing tools for Free accounts and some pretty special tools for Google One subscribers. How do you edit your photos? Have you tried Magic Eraser? #GooglePhotos

English

@chrisguld Hmm. More haste, less speed, Patrick. Can you give us some more info. about these tools?
English

@chrisguld I didn't realise that Google One subscribers have access to more tools. Can you give us some of these tools? I've got an embarrassingly large number of Google accounts, one of which has Google One, so I might need to have a play! #OnEBoardChat #googlephotos
English

@chrisguld And to add to your gif question (!): I often create folders (most of the photos are from my 'real' camera), but love that I can search by date, person, etc.
English

@chrisguld <Sigh> I really must play around more with the app!
English

A3: A favorite tool of mine is the Adjustment for Shadows, you can increase the light in the shadows without washing out the whole photo. This is one of the free tools. #OnEBoardChat #GooglePhotos

English

@chrisguld As mentioned earlier, I tend to d/load DNG files from my phone; however, I HAVE used Magic Eraser, and found it mind-blowing! Fortunately my d/top s/ware also includes a version of this, so I can always lose people... :-)
English

@chrisguld @MailLadyMartha $20 per year - you lucky lady! Because I'm a legacy Google Workspace user, I can't get the benefits of Google One, so pay £79 per year...
English

@MailLadyMartha That makes me sad Martha. Yes, it was fantastic when it was 100% free, but having all my photos in one place is SO worth $20/year - I gladly pay. #OnEBoardChat
English

#OnEBoardChat Q2: Google Photos’ mission is to be one home for your lifetime of photos. Do you care? How do you keep track of all your photos? Or are you not concerned with any but the recent ones? #GooglePhotos

English

@chrisguld "Or are you not concerned with any but the recent ones?" It's probably the reverse for me - I love my older photos - places I might not go to again, people I won't see, etc.
English

@PeggyKTC @chrisguld Peggy, how are you scanning them? I often use the PhotoScan app, but interested to know if there are better ones around.
English

@chrisguld A2 I love having all my photos in one place, especially with facial recognition and Google Photos search.
I have been slowly scanning and uploading older photos.
#OnEBoardChat
English

@chrisguld It's a bit of a messy procedure, and often my edited pics aren't as good as the JPGs direct from the phone...
English

@chrisguld A2: very, VERY important. I take many more photos using a 'proper' camera, which I upload to Google Photos albums. Because my Pixel allows me to take pics in DNG format, I'm then able to edit them in photo-editing software (ON1), and then upload those photos to the same album.
English

@PeggyKTC @jolynbowler @chrisguld I tend to edit my photos on my desktop (ON1 software). I take my photos in JPG and DNG format, so download the DNGs to edit if needed.
English

@jolynbowler @chrisguld Do you edit your photos on desktop? I find the editor tools are more comprehensive in the mobile app, but it would be nice to use a big screen.

#OnEBoardChat Q1: If you have an iPhone or a Samsung, there is a native photo gallery app that is the default. If you also have Google Photos, do you use Google Photos as your primary app, or just as a backup? #googlephotos

English

@chrisguld I'm a Pixel fan, so it's Google Photos for me. I'm also interested in hearing about what other apps include.
English

A1: I want to do my editing using Google Photos, not the native apps for iPhone or Samsung. So I avoid viewing photos from the camera app because that opens the native app. Instead, I close the camera and then open Google Photos. #OnEBoardChat #googlephotos
English

@chrisguld It's perhaps worth mentioning that I've got so many photos that I have to pay Google a small ransom each year for 1Tb of space...
English

@chrisguld I'm joining from the sunny North Essex (UK) area. :-)
I really like Google Photos, and used to use Picasa a LOT. #googlephotos #OnEBoardChat
