ECC-256 Quantum Attack Feasibility Shifts Quantum Timeline Recent advances in quantum cryptanalysis of ECC-256 suggest a halving of required logical qubits at the cost of up to a 5600x increase in Toffoli gate operations. eprint.iacr.org/2026/280.

ECC-256 Quantum Attack Shifts – Fewer Qubits Needed New method solves elliptic curve discrete log with just 1098 logical qubits half the prior estimate. Trade-off? A much higher gate count. Still, this slashes the barrier to breaking ECDSA. eprint.iacr.org/2026/280

ECC-256 just got easier again. Half the number of logical qubits at the cost of 256x more Toffoli gates. Let's see the impact on physical estimates, less physical qubits for longer runtimes?

Mr Leary: Institutions cap Bitcoin because of the quantum risk. This week, Iceberg Quantum showed RSA-2048 could fall with under 100k qubits, 10x fewer than anyone expected. Bitcoin is down from $180K. BTC-to-gold at a 10-year low. 4M BTC in quantum-vulnerable addresses. No migration plan. No timeline. "Digital gold" doesn't work if a quantum computer can pick the lock.

JUST IN: Kevin O’Leary aka Mr. Wonderful says that institutions do not want to own more than 3% of Bitcoin in their portfolios because of the risk of quantum computing.

Breaking RSA-2048 with under 100,000 physical qubits. Not a million. Not half a million. Under 100K. Iceberg Quantum's Pinnacle Architecture just moved the goalpost by an order of magnitude. A year ago, fault-tolerant quantum computing felt like a decade away. It's not looking like a decade anymore. arxiv.org/abs/2602.11457

Quantum Computing Enters the National Security Red Zone: Los Alamos Los Alamos National Laboratory has established the Center for Quantum Computing, consolidating up to three dozen researchers to advance quantum capabilities in national security, algorithms, and workforce development. The center strengthens U.S. strategic positioning through federal partnerships (DOE, DARPA, NNSA). This move signifies a critical mass in quantum R&D, amplifying America’s bid for quantum leadership as global competition intensifies. This isn’t just lab reshuffling, it’s a signal that quantum computing is transitioning to national priority. lanl.gov/media/news/020…

🔥QUANTUM THREAT TO BITCOIN IS OVERSTATED CoinShares says only 10,200 BTC are realistically at risk, and breaking Bitcoin would require quantum machines 100,000x more powerful than today, likely a decade away.

@MPelletierCIO Elliptic curve cryptography is doomed (the crypto that secures Bitcoin wallets). Billions started pulling out last fall, now we are seeing the retail avalanche.

White House Moves to Lock In Quantum Dominance With Sweeping Executive Order The U.S. is fast-tracking quantum supremacy within the next 180 days. A leaked draft EO 'Ushering In The Next Frontier Of Quantum Innovation,' mandates a national quantum computer, overhauls the 2018 strategy, and weaponizes federal R&D to counter global threats. Agencies are directed to align manufacturing, research, and international engagement, positioning quantum as a cornerstone of economic and national security strategy by 2027. No more lab experiments, this is full deployment mode. nextgov.com/emerging-tech/…

Numerous Quantum Attack Warning from Davos: "Q-Day Is Coming" High-level warnings from the 2026 World Economic Forum signal an accelerating quantum threat to global financial, governmental, and cryptographic systems. Sandbox AQ CEO Jack Hidary and Ethereum's founder urge immediate adoption of post-quantum cryptography to counter "Q-day", a projected inflection point where quantum computers could break current encryption. youtube.com/watch?v=O6Ygic…

Stablecoins are the missing link in open finance. But for Wall Street and Washington to adopt them? They must be NIST compliant and quantum secure. This isn’t just about stability, it’s about trust at scale. The infrastructure of tomorrow must be built to survive the threats of tomorrow.

the biggest bull case for crypto that i really buy is stablecoins: open financial infrastructure without the price fluctuations of tokens but if you want stablecoins that are supported and used by big banks and the us gov’t? they need to be NIST compliant and quantum secure

after getting brutally violated by the market last night, I woke up thinking "how much worse could it get?" so I enter my study, and somehow a bird got in and shit LITERALLY everywhere as if cz and wintermute weren't enough I am now getting dumped on by mother nature

The Cost of Falling Behind in Quantum The United States stands at a critical inflection point. Since the 2018 National Quantum Initiative, breakthroughs in qubit stability, hybrid architectures, and AI-driven control have outpaced national strategy, exposing a dangerous gap between capability and deployment. The U.S. does not have a quantum science problem, it has a deployment problem, and every month of delay is being exploited by competitors moving these systems into operational use. Without swift congressional action, the United States risks irreversible loss of technological leadership, economic leverage, and national security advantage. blogs.nvidia.com/blog/national-…

Our current confidence rests on indirect evidence and optimistic extrapolation, not on unassailable proof. This is a dangerous place to pause. History shows that technological leadership is lost not through sudden failure, but through complacency, through assuming early demonstrations are durable victories. Quantum computing is not a luxury or a scientific curiosity; it is a strategic necessity. If we fail to push aggressively past today’s fragile regime, we risk discovering too late that the window has closed, that the advantage was temporary, and that others, less cautious, less restrained, moved faster. In an era defined by noise, uncertainty, and accelerating competition, delaying quantum investment is not prudence. It is surrender by inertia.
