After living in the UK for 7 years, I moved back to southeast asia recently. Bittersweet to leave somewhere with so much memories, but nice to be finally close to family again.
Few months in, some reflections on the pros and cons:
+ Cities here are way more alive. You could go out at anytime and there will be something for you to do or eat. London pales in comparison.
+ People feel more entrepreneurial. There’s a stronger willingness to take risks, be scrappy and figure things out along the way. I personally feel like it’s a great place to test startup ideas as people are more receptive to trying new things.
- Generally much fewer people working on deep tech. It’s harder to pop by to a tech community event where the attendees are all working on different innovative projects.
- Also timezone is kinda cursed if you work on global projects. It’s 3am right now and I’m writing this.

I am stepping down from my co-ED role at the EF at the end of February 2026. Bastian Aue is taking over the co-ED role alongside Hsiao-Wei. The future is bright for builders, for Ethereum, for the EF, and for me.
I wrote a longer blog post (link below). I will answer all of your questions here, at ETHDenver, and during podcasts and AMAs that will be there over the next few days.
