When I was getting my masters (7!) years ago I spent a couple of weeks over at @MoredunComms in the lab with @rocchi_mara learning about PCR and BRD. This week I got to reconnect with Keith who came bearing a care package straight from Scotland. The academic community is amazing

Finally and most importantly: How much I would enjoy my job. As I got closer to graduation I had some #impostersyndrome about if staying in academia was for me. A year later I can say: I really enjoy my academic job. (6/6)

How refreshing it was to work not solely on one topic. For years (!!!) I studied, dreamt, lived, and breathed Gram-positive mastitis- it was my sole academic focus- all of my studies revolved around it. It's been fun to engage with other topics (5/6)

Things I didn't anticipated as a #newfaculty member but probably should have: A reflection on my first academic year and on my own naivety (1/6). TLDR: I love my job and am so grateful to my mentors.

It's always a good day when work becomes available! We are super excited about this work in @jdairyscience that found a large diversity of Gram-positive pathogens causing mastitis on Midwest farms. Stay tuned for the follow up paper describing clinical outcomes

Confession, when I started at MSU in 2019 as a graduate student I didn’t really get the whole March Madness thing. Five years later I organized a bracket group and cheered on MSU from office with a celebratory green tea because… Go Green!

In the dairy office in Morrison Hall there is this photo. Today seemed like a good day to remember one of W.A Stockings graduate students, Minnie Jenkins. She did her graduate work on the bacteriology fermented milk drinks and was an instructor in 1908 #International_Womens_Day

Why did we start this semester with team building? Because this incredible group of young leaders in the dairy is going to be covering thousands of miles this semester as we head to @DairyChallenge and beyond

It’s the first “Fellows Friday” of spring semester 2024 here @CornellAnSci which meant ANSC 3511 and ANSC 4560 played the “Win as Much as You Can” game. While we all “won” ice cream from @cornelldairy we got to talk about group dynamics and draw parallels to the dairy industry
