The debate between 47FUC and Yudkowsky has happened and I'm on the record as saying that it's going to be a total shitshow

Roko 🐉@RokoMijic
@liron @halogen1048576 @ESYudkowsky @47fucb4r8c69323 @allTheYud registering a prediction that this is going to be a shitshow, much heat not much light (if it even happens)

@XiXiDu recently suno released new model and it is even worse at that - i guess it is better at pop (which causes regression in other places).
English

@XiXiDu it is good at that kind of music (or i'm just not able to rate it correctly).
the problem with non-pop genres is you need to generate 100 songs to find one out of distribution (all sound the same), and it still would be 3 levels below in quality (sound engineering / mastering).
English

I'm not into music, so that may be the reason, but if I had heard this on the radio or on TV, I wouldn't have been able to tell that this was AI-generated. Music has already crossed the point for me where I'm completely unable to tell apart AI from human output.

@then_there_was the problem is that dating apps have opposite incentives. they lose money every time the match is successful.
English

I often jot down notes for potential products to build.
I’m not working on a dating app, but this is one of the insights I had as well.
What’s most surprising is just how few companies in the dating space realize this very obvious truth.

Jake Kozloski@jakozloski
One life-changing match is worth more than any number of mid first dates. No dating app uses marriage rate as its north star. This is why the category is broken.

@thepraguem74500 @Noahpinion and who did the disappearing of ma in china or iranian leadership in iran?

@qu4ku @Noahpinion And who does the "disappearing?"

All of the "humans will still pay other humans to do human stuff" posts ignore the key question: What if this still means that a few AI company owners get all of the money and power in our society?

@drydenwtbrown you have flawed model what wealth is. wealth is what people want (value). it is not possible to gain wealth without giving people what they want (outside agi scenarios).
e.g., if we decide to not value cars (because walking is high status), next day car producers go bankrupt.
English

@drydenwtbrown ai won't take all the jobs. it is possible to have 99% of economy consisted of completely synthetic jobs and all of the real jobs done by models/robots.

@RokoMijic + constant buildup of energy sources by the state until the price goes to the price of production x.com/qu4ku/status/2…
kamil wroniewicz@qu4ku
UBI is not a solution, UBE (universal basic energy supply) is.
English

Instead of state UBI from AI, we should give people a transferrable perpetuity equal to their estimated earnings and benefits for the rest of their natural biological lives, which they can then funnel into investments or consumption as they see fit.
The transferability is key: they can take that perpetuity to another country or to a private firm, as long as that new entity has assets to credibly back it. It would be like a Roth IRA except without the age restriction and people wouldn't be able to lump-sum withdraw.
English

@then_there_was it's more of a soft collusion. in their business is to publish new models as late as possible to maximize profits.
English

@mattparlmer i think you have wrong model of a normie. this may be a problem for a few % of society. most of normies just want to do as little as possible maximizing pleasure as far from home as possible (and this is true for both poor and rich know).
