Iren said air cooling ages ago, then it was shown air cooling wouldn't work well for Texas weather, so they then flipped and said it was for a Canadian data centre. They said 8-9mil build cost per MW for Texas data centres, and then that figure rose to 14-16mil per MW, partly justified by the infrastructure needed for most advanced liquid cooling. Now they have flip-flopped back to air cooling in Texas. Unreal. Held up by a cult. Failed to keep guidance build costs, failed to hold up to GPU guidance so far with just over 30mil in Q1, endless dilution and no real financing solutions. Meanwhile, the entire GPU sector rises and IREN also downgrades its own b300 guide (@Lazarus_Capital ), and the MSFT deal has awful levered returns even before dilution is taken into account.

IREN has entered into a $1.6bn purchase agreement with Dell for air-cooled Blackwell systems to support its previously announced 5-year, $3.4bn managed services AI cloud contract. The systems are expected to be deployed across existing data centers at Childress, Texas, with commissioning targeted for early 2027.
