Excited to announce that we will be having our first INS (Institute of Natural Sciences) Quantum Seminar Series (online) starting this Wednesday 1st June 2pm (Shanghai time)! Thrilled to have Dominic Berry presenting his latest works on quantum simulation! Welcome to join us! :D

Emmy Noether (1882-1935) should be better known outside of mathematics and physics. Her work was so astonishingly impactful in so many areas. March 23, 2022 is the 140th anniversary of her birth. Here's what Einstein has to say in memoriam: _

Using our quantum computers as tools for science Lioyd Hollenberg and his team @UMelbourne push the limits of characterization with whole device entanglement on our 27-qubit IBM Montreal, and 65-qubit IBM Manhattan. Read their blog research.ibm.com/blog/whole-dev…

The Sandia crew have published their GST paper, which I think is one of the great ongoing projects in #quantum. You can read my Perspective about it in Quantum Journal | 'Gate set tomography is not just hyperaccurate, it's a different way of thinking' quantum-journal.org/views/qv-2021-…

Happy to finally be able to share this work. Here, we delve deep into arithmetic using a quantum Fourier transform (QFT). A QFT encodes some number |x> into register phases, then you can apply structured rotations to add some 'a' and IQFT back to |x+a> scirate.com/arxiv/2110.002…

@Liv_Lanes I definitely do this. It's hard to start from something more familiar. Maybe we could start by talking about how programming would look different if variables could be in superpositions?

One thing I think is funny is that when we begin to explain quantum computing we always start with, “okay, so you know how a normal computer works…” even though almost no one knows how a normal computer really works.

Thomas Vidick has written a short survey on the negative resolution of Connes' embedding problem and Tsirelson's problem using insights about non-locality and entanglement from quantum information. users.cms.caltech.edu/~vidick/notes/…

Finally, we introduce conditional Markov order as "practical" measure of NM on quantum devices, fine-graining the typical yes/no question of Markovianity often posed. Here, we construct increasingly complex (accounting for higher order correlation) models and ask how well they do
