First impressions of gameplay from FC24 after about 20-30 games of rivals; Gameplay overall is very very slow. Not just usual start of the game slow but like very slow. Possession players are going to love this game to start with imo. Defending is VERY HARD. 1 Body feint and the player is gone and even "quick" defenders have virtually 0 recovery pace. You get heavily punished for bringing players out of position or misreading the play. I haven't kept a clean sheet yet this year, as someone that isn't great at defending anyway I feel myself getting infuriated at the back already. Dribbling is very very difficult. R1 dribbling has been removed and it's hard to speed up and slow down quickly even with players like Messi. Goalkeepers are either absolutely insane or make the worst mistakes and there's no inbetween. I either score because their GK fumbles the ball or I miss 1 on 1s. Playstyle+ seem to be very OP. I think they're going to be one of the first things people look at with cards. Specifically passing, pace and shooting related playstyles. Women seem to be very good. They feel a bit quicker and better on the ball than men imo. And women GKs are genuinely useable. That's my opinion after 20-30 games of rivals. I'm really struggling to adapt to this game atm, when usually I find the start of the game quite easy. But I don't really mind, I like the challenge of improving. I don't think most people are going to enjoy this gameplay though and I expect a big patch early on. It definitely doesn't suit the casual player and there'll be a lot of frustration at this gameplay imo. Let me know your thoughts if you've taken a flight to NZ or when you get on the game tomorrow!
