BREAKING: 53 fatalities confirmed amid active #lahainafire, @CountyofMaui announced just now. @KITV4. 36 fatalities were confirmed as of Wednesday. Another 17 were confirmed midday today. The status of all three fires remains unchanged.

Banyan Tree in Lahaina smoldering at the base, but still standing. Just about the only thing left, other than the Lighthouse.

In case the worst has happened to Lahaina Town, if you’ve never been — it’s one of my favorite places on Maui island. Chill and quaint — there’s a huge banyan tree in downtown and more historical structures than I care to think about. #MauiFires

Seeing images out of Lahaina bubbles up a learned sense of dread. It’s been nearly 5 years since a wildfire swallowed Paradise whole. I haven’t been the same since then. I’m sorry for the families that lost more than just things. You lose a sense of safety, foundation, and trust.

We had an *encounter* yesterday with a flying roach the size of my index finger. After successfully killing it, we spent the next hour shaky and silent like we had just witnessed a horrific car wreck. We are not cut out for Hawaii roaches. @NuttleNews

@bellebellebeau I think it’s 5 days after testing positive and then you can come back to work with a negative.

@rachaelreally Does Hawaii have a protocol? I tested five days and isolated 10.

Apparently I have the Fort Knox of immune systems. Husband got COVID, I quarantined with him this week in our shoebox apartment and I never got it. I’d like to thank those 2 horrifying years I worked in the ER and ICU.
