@wild_beard Very true. There are inherent traits that should be the real determining factor. Skills can be taught.

@ractoon It's also tricky because not everyone has the time, or desire, for side projects. I think a good question is to talk about a mistake or challenge they overcame. What it was, how they/the team addressed it, and how it was resolved.

Creating tech hiring questions is hard. Really, I just want to see some code and talk about it. That would tell you everything you need. I get the need for a filter, otherwise, how do you sift through a mountain of candidates?

But I don't enjoy these types of trivia questions myself so would prefer not to burden others with them either.

Been using @useFormKit for some time now and it's pretty solid. If you need a form-building toolkit for VueJS 3 this is the one.

@adamwathan I like Cal Newport's approach in Deep Work where he puts the onus on the sender to prove the email is worthwhile. But puts a disclaimer near his contact info saying no response is not meant to be rude, but necessary to get anything done during the day.

@adamwathan It's a strange obligation we have to respond to emails, lest we be considered "rude". But the ability of a request that took someone 5 seconds to write, but will take the recipient 10 or 100 times as long to create a response is unsustainable.

My entire experience of email is just saying "no" to people who reach out with ideas and opportunities and it burns me out like crazy. So much effort goes in to making sure people understand I'm not an asshole, just not interested, and still worry I'm turning people against me 😟
