#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Sepoy Gouri Shanker Sah Kirti Chakra (P) 8 BIHAR Sep Sah made the supreme sacrifice ghting during an Anti Terror Op in Jammu & Kashmir #OnThisDay 04 May 1992 Remember the ultimate price paid by the gallant #IndianBrave defending the nation and the people, during the peak of militancy 8 Bihar Regiment was given the task of flushing out a group of fully armed militants, firmly established in a two-storeyed house of village Gurslr of District Sopore, J&K At 1300 hours on 03 May 1992, Sep Sah was selected to lead the assault on the ground floor of the house. Firing his Light Machine Gun from the hip, Sep Sah sprinted across the line of fire and made it possible for the assault team to cover all the rooms on the ground floor. In utter disregard of the deadly hail of fire from the head of the staircase above Sep Sah firing his Light Machine Gun from the hip led the charge up the stairs. When the militants lobbed a grenade at the assaulting party, Sep Sah grabbed the grenade as it fell and threw it right back at the militants. As he bent to do so, he was hit several times by the militant's fire. Although wounded and bleeding profusely, Sep Sah kept on firing at the retreating militants till he became unconscious. His gallant act enabled the rest of the assault party to get a foothold on the first floor of the house and subsequently to flush out the militants. Sep Sah was evacuated to the nearest 'Medical Aid Post' where he breathed his last. Sepoy Gouri Shanker Sah, thus, displayed conspicuous gallantry and courage of an exceptional order and was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously. 🏵

We are investing in foundational technologies across the board: recently in quantum sensing, advanced materials, and soon metallurgy. I am a big proponent of metallurgy R&D in particular. Without it, we cannot build nail cutters or precision machinery or jet engines. These are not flashy billion dollar investments to make headlines, they are foundational R&D that cost millions a year, stretched out over many years. The key is to SUSTAIN them for a decade or longer. Scientists and engineers need time and rock solid support. We also don't aim for prestige, we want to first replicate know-how already there. We have also been looking to partner with small Japanese companies with critical know-how. I have two fluent Japanese speakers with me now!

#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Major Viney Chaudhary Shaurya Chakra (P) 13 PUNJAB The #IndianBrave led his men in an anti-terror operation, eliminated three terrorists and injured another two before laying down his life #OnThisDay 29 April in 1999 at #Pulwama, J&K Maj Chaudhary who had developed an intricate intelligence network in and around Pulwama district in Kashmir Valley, received a reliable input from the battalion headquarters about the presence of terrorists in Takia village. He was also tasked to conduct a cordon and search operation to flush out terrorists. The officer immediately led his column and established tight cordon around the clusters of houses by 3:00 pm. By excellent marksmanship, Major Chaudhary shot down the terrorist who was firing at the cordon. In the ensuing fire fight, Maj Chaudhary crawled to a position of advantage under covering fire from his men and shot down the second militant. The Maj, while inching forward for the third terrorist, received gunshot wound in his right thigh. Disregarding his injury, and sensing threat to his comrades, he charged towards the house and shot the third terrorist at point blank range. But in the fire fight, he, too, was fatally injured and succumbed to his injuries even before his evacuation to the hospital. During the encounter with the most dreaded terrorists, for his indomitable courage, dogged determination and inspirational leadership in the line of fire, Major Viney Chaudhary was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, posthumously Remember the #IndianBrave - his service, valour and supreme sacrifice for the Nation. 🏵️

The youngest recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, he was two months short of 21 when he led his team and made the supreme sacrifice at Hill Kaka, J&K #LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 A #BravestOfTheBrave- Paratrooper Sanjog Chhetri Ashoka Chakra (P) 9 PARA (SF) Ptr Chhetri who made the supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 22 April in 2003 during Op Sarp Vinash On 22 April 2003, Ptr Chhetri led a team of 20 commandos in carrying out operations in the terrorist location at Hill Kaka in J&K. After a long and arduous approach to the target area, at first light, the entire troop comprising 20 personnel drew a heavy volume of effective automatic fire from three directions from a terrorist hideout located above, thereby pinning the entire troop down for approximately 30 minutes. Sensing that any further delay in neutralising the terrorist's fire would cause heavy casualties to own troops, Ptr Chhetri broke cover and lobbed two grenades towards the terrorists thereby disrupting their fire. He started crawling up a steep incline towards the terrorists. Meanwhile, the terrorists re-grouped and re- commenced their effective fire. By now, Ptr Chhetri had run out of hand grenades. However, he managed to reach a flank and from that position he charged at and killed two terrorists. This took the other terrorists by surprise and they directed their entire fire on Ptr Chhetri. This facilitated the balance of the troops to extricate themselves from the pinning fire of the terrorists and maneuver itself to a position of advantage. Undeterred by the concentrated firing of the terrorists and with an utter disregard for his personal safety, Ptr Chhetri continued to close in with the terrorists and killed one more terrorist at point blank range. In this action, he sustained multiple gun shot wounds to which he succumbed subsequently. The commando team inspired by this act of valour, went on to eliminate 13 terrorists and apprehended one alive, and recovered a large amount of arms, ammunition and explosives. For his bravery, Ptr Chhetri was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. Remember the gallant #IndianBrave - his service, valour and supreme sacrifice for the Nation. 🏵️

Supreme sacrifice in a war far away #LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Lieutenant Colonel Abjit Singh Sekhon, Vir Chakra (P), Commanding Officer 7 MADRAS Lt Col Sekhon laid down his life leading from the front- fighting the LTTE, #OnThisDay 21 April in 1988 in Sri Lanka, during #OpPawan Lt Col Sekhon, CO 7 Madras, was deployed in Sri Lanka as a part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force. On 13 April 1988, he received information about the location of an arms cache at a place called Vannerikulam as also the presence of some hard-core militants. He exercised imagination and calculated risk and approached the target areas in vehicles along a hitherto unmapped and sparsely used tract. He reached his target areas undetected and completely surprised the militants. In this action, Lt Col Sekhon who was guiding the column killed two hard-core militants one of whom was found to be the Area Leader. Again on 21 April 1988, when information was received about the presence of 10 to 14 militants in village Urithirapuram, he gathered two platoons and along with another officer, personally led the column to the site of the militants. The party came under intense fire from the militants. He jumped out of his vehicle and despite the intense militant fire, organized his party and returned the fire. He personally shot dead one militant and wounded another. It was at this stage of the encounter that Lt Col Sekhon was hit by a militant’s bullet through the chest and he fell on the spot. Throughout the operation, Lt Col Sekhon displayed gallantry and valour in the face of militants and made the supreme sacrifice. Remember the gallant #IndianBrave, always 🏵️
