🗣️HIP 128 in Discussion: ENERGY Subnetwork The Helium community is actively discussing a new proposal, HIP 128. The HIP proposes creating ENERGY, a new subnetwork within the Helium ecosystem, to reward users for participating in the energy market with solar power production and battery storage. The ENERGY subnetwork proposes to empower homeowners by enabling them to participate in and benefit from energy markets, which are traditionally dominated by centralized energy companies. The subnetwork will support the integration and reward of Decentralized Energy Resources (DERs), such as solar PV systems and batteries, allowing homeowners to contribute to grid stability and earn rewards through the network. Key benefits include: Dual Mining: Existing Helium Hotspots can earn both IOT and ENERGY rewards. Utilizing IOT Network: Transfers sensor data over the current IOT infrastructure, increasing network activity. Increased DC Burn: Drives significant Data Credit burn, potentially increasing HNT value. Helium Expansion: Enters the renewable energy sector, expanding utility and market reach. Sustainability: By rewarding users for renewable energy production and storage, it helps reduce carbon footprints and promotes green energy practices.
