I'm gonna be honest: I'm getting more skeptical about the doctrine of the Perpetual Virginity of Mary than I used to be I kinda accepted it out of historical peer pressure since all the Reformers did, but: 1. I struggle to see why it matters, and the history of its development includes a lot of VERY weird speculations, such as whether Jesus miraculously teleported through Mary at his birth or not 2. Gregory of Nyssa and Calvin both seem to say it's weird when people make it an essential belief 3. All biblical cases for it seem to be grasping at straws. I'm still open to it but I need to be convinced why it matters.

Even if Christmas had pagan origins or elements, it could still be piously celebrated. In Deuteronomy 7:13, God takes the names of pagan gods—Seger, Dagan, Tirash—and makes them covenant blessings—fertility, grain, wine. God redeems the nonsense out of paganism.
