Every extended period of my life that was successful and fun has a high positive correlation with the number of anime I watched that year. The more anime I watch, the happier I am. The happier I am, the more motivated I am to do well. It's clear now... I need to watch more anime

to this reaction. Therefore, it is a highly analytical activity rather than an emotional reinterpretation like "how would I feel in this situation?" cause I'd feel nothing. My heart is dead.

If you consider the former, it's easy to dismiss. I'm an adult; you could kill me and I probably still wouldn't mind it all that much. But to a child, a broken crayon means a lot. So you have to now consider the object of your observation and their previous experiences which led

Empathy isn't really "how I would feel in this situation". It's actually more analytical than that. If a child is crying because she broke her crayon, you wouldn't think "how would I feel in this situation?" so much as "how does this child feel?"

I miss university/MSc. My problems were so local and solvable. Every single issue in life could be solved by something I could immediately execute. The lack of uncertainty was key, not to mention the social proximity and shared struggles with life. Alas, it's all gone now.

"Hobby" anime expands what counts as worth noticing. I watched Food for the Soul so I care more about cooking. I watched Yama no Susume, so I appreciate the climb. I watched Initial D, so I appreciate the engineering of cars. Anime rewires your relationship with the mundane.

CGDCT and iyashikei are interesting genres. here are 3-5 high school to college aged girls genuinely and deeply fascinated by one hobby. It's that soulrot of life that has beaten "low-utility" passions out of us. That's why it's hard to explain "What's it about?"

I am absolutely loving Botan Kamiina but not anything else; it scratches a highly specific itch. Maybe I need yuri instead of comedy

Last I was here, I realised how much I needed a goal and that was exactly why I brought the FRM books. Tomorrow it'll have been four long months of being here and I haven't studied anything at all.
