While section 5 of DSPE Act empowers Central govt to extend the jurisdiction of the CBI to a state, this power is subject to the consent of the state government under Section 6. In nutshell, without Punjab’s consent or a court order, the CBI cannot step in. @INCPunjab @BJPPunjab

We live in an age of half-truths, misinformation & disinformation. So here’s the legal position on the CBI probe offer in Gagandeep Randhawa case. A thread… There are only 2 legally recognized routes through which CBI, a federal agency, can take up investigation in a state.
