Mr. Carney continues to break his promise to Canadians. 1 year later and no deal in sight. Meanwhile, Canada is losing thousands of manufacturing jobs. Impacted industries need certainty. The loans announced today are a band-aid over a gaping wound. My response:

The 49,000 Chinese EVs the Liberals will allow into Canada present serious national security, economic, and forced labour concerns. The Liberal government’s own surtax order in 2024 that imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs stated exactly that. Min. Joly herself issued that order. Today, I asked her how she reconciles that.

Conservatives support providing military aid to Ukraine. However, the Liberal government should also be cutting off the source of funds for Putin’s war machine while helping the Canadian economy grow - that would have a bigger impact than $270 million in funding. Russia is still selling billions of dollars of natural gas to Europe, providing Russia with a valuable source of funds for its budget. According to the Council of the European Union, “For pipeline gas and LNG combined, Russia accounted for around 12% of total EU gas imports in 2025.” The Liberal government should announce a policy of displacing Russian natural gas with Canadian. That policy should include new legislation to reverse the anti-resource development laws on the books, overhauling a byzantine regulatory system and using the powers in Bill C-5 to quickly approve new pipelines and LNG facilities. Four years ago, when the war in Ukraine began, Conservatives called on the Liberal government to take action to approve and build new LNG pipelines so Canada could export to allies in Europe and displace Russian gas. The Liberal government refused to take action. As a result, EU countries like Germany were forced into signing long-term contracts with Qatar to purchase LNG. Now another war has broken out, this time in the Middle East. Qatari LNG shipments to Europe have been cut off, and Russia is taking advantage of the situation by rerouting oil and gas exports to benefit from higher prices, helping fund its war in Ukraine. Ten months have passed since Parliament gave the Liberal government extraordinary new powers in C-5 to expedite the approval and construction of new infrastructure, such as LNG export facilities and pipelines. Despite the passage of four years and Bill C-5, and despite the passage of one year with Prime Minister Carney in power, little has changed. Canada still has no new approved LNG export facilities or pipelines. And our closest allies are forced to purchase oil and gas from authoritarian states like Russia. And the Canadian economy continues to struggle, with GDP shrinking in two of the last three reported quarters. #cdnpoli

Poetry. “There is no ribbon-cutting. No news conference. Yet, in a matter of weeks, tens of thousands of Canadian farmers and ranchers deploy billions of dollars, put enormous personal and financial capital at risk, and set in motion the production of food that Canadians and much of the world depend on.”

New fiscal update—but same Liberal problems, same Liberal playbook: Massive deficits that drive up costs. And no urgency in resolving the U.S tariff dispute or cutting red tape—both needed to save major manufacturing industries.

“This (Chinese EV agreement) will undermine Canada’s supplier base and hollow out our skilled automotive workforce.” Those are the words of GM Canada, one of the largest employers in the auto sector. When we allow these EVs into our market virtually tariff-free, we facilitate the exodus of billions in economic activity and the thousands of good paying jobs it provides. The government is walking clumsily into a disaster—for our auto sector, workers, and the broader industrial base. The fence is down and the deer are in the garden. Watch:

Bill C-225 (Bailey’s Law) just passed at third reading and is now on its way to the Senate! I am hopeful that this bill will continue to move forward and ultimately become law. I want to recognize Bailey’s family, as well as all victims of intimate partner violence; we hear you, and this is for you.

A $16B Canadian industry is now facing catastrophe after new U.S. tariffs hit earlier this month. Our moldmakers are essential to the supply chain and to Canada’s economic sovereignty—and once that capacity is lost, it’s gone for good. If we’re serious about protecting manufacturing in this country, the Liberals need to adhere to their promise and get back to the negotiating table, apply urgency in getting a deal, and be transparent with Canadians.

Another Liberal program that overpromised and underdelivered. Only 33% of targeted households have been served. Behind the shortfall? A bureaucratic backlog in applications—despite a near doubling in administrative costs. Noble intentions are not enough. It’s the same, tired story: this government excels in announcements, but struggles with execution.

Steven Guilbeault: "we still have an industrial price on pollution… We still have clean fuel standards... We still have (strict emissions) targets for vehicles.“ A pertinent reminder from the former environment minister that despite the bluster, all of these de-facto taxes remain—and continue to drive up the cost of essentials for Canadians.

Canada lacks the necessary data protections laws to deal with risks from Chinese EVs, says the Privacy Commissioner. The Liberal government is failing to take this seriously. Canadians should not have to put their personal data at risk to further Mr. Carney’s ambitions with China. Canada needs stronger data protections laws — now.

“(Canada’s EV deal with China) has the potential to undermine Canada’s auto sector and presents risks to the future of the integrated North American supply chain.” A statement as clear as any from the voice of prominent automakers who manufacture in Canada. Allowing a flood of 49,000 Chinese EVs into the Canadian market does not make sense, both economically and geopolitically.

“To sell a tool to China, impossible. To sell a tool to India, impossible. To sell a tool to Europe, highly unlikely.” Manufacturers won’t survive without a long-term agreement with the U.S. Mr. Carney’s pivot to China cannot rescue our industries in crisis.

SHOCKING: Canadian Manufacturers have lost faith in Carney's ability to negotiate a tariff deal with the US and are now paying to send PRIVATE CONSULTANTS to Washington to do their bidding, in a desperate attempt to save their industry.
