A mix of circumstance and design has ensured that almost everything in modern Indian history is the Congress's history. So long as the Republic of India exists, Congress would not go extinct to both the disappointment and glee of large groups everywhere.

It has its parallels in old foundational parties like American Republicans, British Conservatives, Chinese CCP or South African ANC. Its centrality during a crucial phase in national history ensures that it survives, even as an undercurrent, waiting for an eventual resurgence.

A cursory look at the history of the subcontinent from 1850s to present day would explain why. The Indian National Congress is the only party which has a pan-India appeal that is not entirely centred on identity politics besides the Marxist Left.

why does INC even contest elections man? a done & dusted party. surviving purely as bjp haters, not as opposition. visionary atal saab was so right when he said in 1996 "today you're laughing at us because we have less no. of seats but one day the whole nation will laugh at you".

@sudhirpillai__ @SushantSin @MaliniP The tragedy of social media is that those who has been within the system for years and seen its nuts and bolts and speaks from their experience and wisdom has to compete for visibility with a mob of hallucinating nutcrackers high on the latest quick-fix of spicy factoids.

@MaliniP — to pass those of us raising these questions off as a political party’s PR team is disingenuous. I have served in A&N across three tenures: as a pilot, as CO of a Coast Guard IPV, and as Chief of Staff of ANC. I have commanded an Amphibious Task Force (CATF) during an EF ex and overseen a tri-service airborne ex onto the islands. We know what the military defence of A&N requires.
Sudhir Pillai@sudhirpillai__

1/5 Applying Mahbubani's framework here assumes an unstated premise: that opposition to #GNI infrastructure design equals opposition to India having any military presence in A&N. No serious critic has argued this. India can ill afford to ignore or downplay the military importance of the Islands. The current debate needs engagement with military-strategic aspects rather than being passed off as arguments for demilitarisation. @SandeepUnnithan @MaliniP @arunp2810 @theUdayB

This op-ed should get the author the VC post in Galgotia University. The Chinese would be quaking in their boots if they survive the initial fits of laughter.

Next year, he went to the exam centre wearing only a sleeveless gym vest and football shorts and did well enough to study his MBBS in a government medical college.

I have a classmate from school who now doing an MD from a central university, who had his full-sleeve shirt taken off and gave the NEET wearing only his vest. The school had centralised AC on blast to fend off the summer heat. Poor guy shivered the whole time and mucked the exam.

A decade ago, some mofo found a way to put a sim card in slippers. Then went a step ahead & launched bra, vest, underwear with sim card & bluetooth. Result- police suspects everything is hitech from a zip handle to your tulsi mala. There are legit paid guys cutting your buttons, sleeves, threads, and noserings. If they can, they will ask you to appear in your undergarments that too white or beige in colour. Use dirty washrooms barefoot too! These people still cannot catch cheaters and routinely find people misusing loopholes from the examiners & system’s side. Worse that even several members of RPSC like bodies were found involved in exam scams. Several officers on jobs were involved, even in taking exams in someone else’s place. What happens to such people remains buried in news. But yes, go to these exam centres and compromise your dignity as no one has anything better to offer. Just ruin your day before a high voltage high competitive exam because you forgot to remove that 1 pin from your hair or your 15 years old earrings refused to come out without leaving you in tears. Good luck (from the moment you are born in this dishonest dehati nation).

The Hooghly in Kolkata is a living breathing navigable river, not a large lifeless concrete tank like Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. The idea of concretising both its banks is a bad idea, hydrologically. One upstream tidal surge and it is all washed out.

@CaptPKRajRif @manaman_chhina If I am not wrong, The Queen was the last Colonel-in-Chief of the Guides, when she was Queen of Pakistan until 1956. Portrait could date back to that era. They carried personal honour title of Queen's Own from 1876 to 1956.

“In some PG accommodations in Noida, it’s not really about studies… it feels more like a full-on hookup culture!” “Students and working professionals all live together, during the day, everyone plays ‘decent,’ walking out with bags on their shoulders, girls neatly adjusting their dupattas, appearing all proper and composed.” “On the door, there’s a strict notice, ‘No entry after 11 PM, boys and girls are not allowed in each other’s rooms.’” “But as soon as the clock hits 11:30… the entire scene flips.” “Doors quietly open, rooms get exchanged, and suddenly, the PG starts looking more like a live-in setup.” “This becomes a daily routine, and families back home have no idea what’s really going on.” “Whether students or working individuals, there seems to be no hesitation, no fear.” “Everyone thinks the same, ‘No one will find out, might as well experience life before marriage… just enjoy!’” “And the PG owner? He knows everything… but as long as the rent keeps coming, he stays silent.” “Morning arrives, and the same act begins again…” “On calls with family, it’s all, ‘Yes mom, the environment here for studies/job is really good.’” “And the moment the call ends… laughter fills the room.” “This is the reality of a double life, one for the family as the ‘ideal child,’ and another in the nights of PG life in Noida.”
