School choice - only rich had it - poor deserve it - THEIR lifetime of edu taxes, not yours - EXACTLY like soc security, medicare, housing assistance, Pell grants, etc - credits INCREASES pub school $/student - higher college accept. rates - logical/equitable - 75% support

@repngutierrez Nancy, you are simply a liar. It’s best net neutral as $16,000 kids move to $8,000 ESAs. Simple concept & math. The rich went to private schools BEFORE ESAs, now low/ mid incomes get this equality Choice = democracy

@angelbeee602 @azcentral Let ppl who committed a grave illegal act legalized? There’s spouting in the faces of those who worked hard across a long process to do it the right way, let alone US citizens. Nope, that is immoral & unethical And you BS about taxes & Israel is just pathetic

@rational_please @azcentral Wrapping together dhs support with the hiding of the files to make it look like it’s all on the dems is crazy thinking from the repubes. Republicans should let immigrants get legalized. They pay taxes to help more with the Israeli welfare fund USA gives them haha

MN has free lunch and free breakfast for every student in public school. Less than HALF of MN students test proficient in Reading and Math. The MN student proficiency rate is trending downward. Free food wasn't the solution to improving student performance.

As the mom of four sons, I know all too well that kids can’t focus at school when they’re hungry. At a time when grocery prices are through the roof and Republicans are hell-bent on slashing food assistance programs, free school meals bridge the gap for students across our country and ensure they are set up for success. Today, I’m introducing a bill with @Ilhan, @BettyMcCollum04 and @SenSanders to provide universal free school lunch to kids in all 50 states – no matter their income level or zip code.

This guy… He knows the fraud started on his watch as Ducey’s Budget Director, but he didn’t notice because he and Ducey were too busy passing corporate giveaways and ESA vouchers, to the detriment of all Arizonans. Nice try tho. Click ⬇️ azcentral.com/story/opinion/… #AZleg #Senate #democrats

Thank God we have Senator Werner @CarineWerner leading the charge at the Capitol to hold accountable the people and providers who abuse our most vulnerable and the state’s behavioral health system. And she’s done so on a bipartisan basis. I’m disappointed that General Mayes @AZAGMayes resorted to calling Senator Werner names instead of thanking her for her engagement on a really serious problem.

Arizona’s out-of-control ESA program is justifiably under fire by the Auditor General. But did you know that private school employees aren’t subjected to the same fingerprint clearance as public schools? Public funding should come with the same safety requirements.

It would be redundant to have two police depts to enforce the same laws in the same geography, double the cost There are fixed class sizes with endless real estate and the same number of kids. If the costs were the same per kid we’d have the same total costs, at worst break even. But we can save a fortune moving a$16,000 kid to a $8,000 ESA. A true win win The real beauty is we treat kids uniquely, finding a best fit school with unique goals & outcomes. Not a commodity at all, the best way to optimize for each child/family Simple logic & math

I mean if we’re following Friedman at least that would be more ideologically consistent than a socialist grant with tax money. Right now we’re doing the education version of funding a second police department. At some point, this setup is going to cause uncomfortable budget choices. I just want proponents to be real that they created a new entitlement program.

@AZSenateDems @priya4az @MitziEpstein You’d only lose it if you broke border laws, you haven’t honestly tried to support yourself through work, or aren’t trying to buy weed/alcohol/candy or soda with zero nutrition so value The “N” in SNAP is “nutrition”

Real talk: You might lose funding for healthcare, education, and SNAP… but don’t worry, maybe a beautiful data center will show up nearby. Republicans WANT TO KEEP A 40 MILLION dollar tax break for data centers in their budget, while working families pay the price. Corporations first. Arizonans last. That’s not fiscal responsibility. That’s theft. Senate Democrats will keep up the fight. #AZleg #budget #democrats #senate

You nailed it. We shouldn’t pay education taxes. Lower our taxes then let everyone choose & pay for their own school. Capitalism, the way the rest of society works Meantime, we simply use the gov as a pass thru.,…collecting our funds then we use a portion to select our schools (ESAs). You are exactly right, move away of the socialism of today, paying without choice Support all schools, all teachers, all families - choice maximizes results across all of society

Moving a $16,000 public school kid to a $8,000 ESA saves massive $. All school funding is done, and has been done, on a per pupil basis You are breathlessly wrong on the most basic data, facts & met Allowing us to choose where to spend a portion of our own menu is capitalism, the exact opposite of the force of socialism

@TradamWest @azesamemes @mschlapp Each of us pays a lifetime of education taxes, 50 years or more of local, state & fed taxes that we pay to fund the $16,000/child. A massive amount of money over a lifetime There is literally nowhere else it comes from other than from us Think, be logical, use math

@rational_please @azesamemes @mschlapp This is a lot of typing to make excuses about a socialist giveaway to families. Families who absolutely do not pay $16K or even $8K in taxes for education in the first place. The government should not fund lifestyle choices anymore than it should fund a second police department.

Craig Harris is coming on your show to lie. Please use FACTS! 1. It’s not “taxpayer $”, these parents pay a lifetime of education taxes, it’s THEIR $ 2. Moving a $16,000 public school kid to a $8,000 SAVES massive $ 3. Public school fraud/mismanagement massively bigger than ESAs. Same with SNAP, Medicaid, etc. Where’s the outrage for public schools and these other programs.? Where’s endless social media posts & calls for more oversight? 4. Public school test scores are simply awful, only 36% at reading level. Where’s the outrage & calls for more accountability? FORCING kids into bad schools immoral/unacceptable 5. ESAs allow low/mid incomes to have the choice only upper incomes have previously, they MUST have the same choice 6. These “audits” have been dissected and they are bogus. They literally say something like “these are small samples DO NOT use to extrapolate to broader results”. Do not give them credibility! 7. Over 70% bipartisan support for school choice, the same choice we enjoy throughout society 8. $trillions of our tax money used by use with 100% choice: soc security, Medicare, Pell Grants, GI Bill, food stamps, etc. hypocritical not to include schools! 9. To give credibility to a clearly anti-choice “journalist” who does not have journalistic integrity is just awful, harms society
