@Steven_Swinford Hang on! WhatsApp messages are usually backed up in the cloud and you can retrieve them on any phone with the same number. Something fishy!

Exclusive: Police did not investigate the theft of Morgan McSweeney’s phone because officers were “too busy”, despite the sensitivity of his messages and contacts Sir Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff told the Metropolitan police that his phone was stolen as he returned home from a restaurant in central London on October 20 last year The theft of the work device means that McSweeney’s WhatsApp messages and texts to Lord Mandelson, the former ambassador to the US, cannot be retrieved. It has led critics to question whether the phone was stolen The State of It, the political podcast from The Times and The Sunday Times, can disclose that McSweeney told police the phone was taken by a man wearing a balaclava on an electric bike. The man grabbed it out of his hand as McSweeney was responding to text messages and cycled off. McSweeney gave chase but was unable to keep up Scotland Yard has a record of the incident but did not carry out any formal investigation. Officers did not speak to McSweeney directly because they were too busy. He was given a crime reference number and the case was closed McSweeney reported the theft of his phone to No 10 and the device was shut off remotely. He was given a new device with the same number the next day. The theft of the phone was first reported by The Sun on Sunday thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@bagshaw2112 Near my secondary school (a long, long time ago) was a sweet shop/tobacconist with a ciggy machine outside. It dispensed 10 sovereign for 10p, later on they reduced the pack to 9! But if you were quick enough with the drawer (in and out again) you could get a free second pack!

Four years into my 2022 BMW i3s ownership (and because I am really boring), I thought I would look at the running costs, from new. It is a private car and everything is based on my own experience. Miles driven: 42,000 Energy kWh used: 13,083 Average economy: 3.2 miles per kWh of electricity. Total charging cost: £2,160 (Mix of home, work, public) ‘Fuel’ cost average of mixed charging is 5.1p per mile. General costs; Servicing x 2: £661 Car Tax x1 year: £195 MOT x2 years: £108 Insurance x 4 years: £1,800 Rear tyres x 2; £430 Wiper blades (f/r): £88 Total General costs: £3,282 So, charging & general costs are £5,442. This equals to 13p per mile. Non-essential items I have purchased: One set of winter alloy wheels and tyres: £1,560 Wheel swops (six monthly (winter/summer): £285 Rear bumper rubber protector: £105 Non-essential total costs: £1,950 All costs over 4 years: £7,392 All costs per mile: 17.6p There is also the home charger to add into the equation, and from memory, that was around £650 at the time. No idea on costs, now. Issues: Faulty dash-cam (replaced FOC) Faulty drivers door mirror (replaced FOC) This is my personal experience.

@DefundBBC They can just issue the usual prologue "Contains material from a previous era.... etc.". Many of the streaming channels get away with screening all sorts of "Non-PC" stuff. Don't like it? Don't watch it. Simples.

The woke BBC has decided to pull a segment of The Repair Shop after an employee took offence to material in the late comedian Bob Monkhouse’s joke book brought in by his daughter. It’s a book with jokes dating back to the 1960s, how much more precious can the BBC get #DefundTheBBC

@Rainmaker1973 I bought a "log splitter bit" which you fit in your power drill. The only problem is the log stayed still and I span around it. My wrists still ache.

@mrsDugskullery I understand that this Ambulance service, a "community" charity (a bit like the RNLI), were part of the local ambulance provision, the loss of those destroyed would mean that there was a hole left. The crews were still available, so why not, as a stop gap measure, lend some?

@MarioNawfal Hey! Why not nuclear power for cars? At least it would mean people would be REALLY careful how they drive.

If you're pissed your EV takes an hour to charge, don't become a submarine engineer. Nuclear submarine refueling takes 1-3 years. The last USS Louisiana's refuel required 40 months. But once refueled, they can stay at sea for 20-30+ years.

@Perky_43 Had a look at our local discounter (Trago Mills) which is ALWAYS pence cheaper than anyone else, and it was 182.9p! whilst nearby filling stations are charging 165.9 -169.9p I guess it all depends when and who they get their stock from. BTW Doesn't that .9p business piss you off?

@Gypsypup13 There is a law (laws). Your Local Authority has powers. If it's been empty for some time, they should have an "empty homes policy" Just ring the Housing dept. And ask them to enforce it.

This 3 bed ex council house has been like this since I was a little girl and I am 47. There should be a law where after a certain period the council can take it over. This could be a beautiful house near schools and the town centre for a nice family. There's 1000s like this

@Turbinetraveler Probably half a billion dollars (don't you love those beautiful tariffs) worth of death and destruction. Don't forget, most Iranians are just like you and me they just want to live their lives in peace, only militant religious fanatics get in their way (read that both ways)

@zatzi Oil, any Oil, is a commodity, it's traded at a variable price depending on it's supply and demand. Having our own oil doesn't make it cheaper just the traders richer. Companies with large stockpiles of oil (bought at lower market rates) will soon be paying more corporation tax 😉
