Today I filed an ethics complaint regarding a bill introduced by Assemblywoman Katie Brennan titled the “Fight Unlawful Conduct and Keep Individuals and Communities Empowered Act.” Let me be clear: this is not about immigration policy or ICE. People can debate those issues all day long. This is about respect for the Legislature and the public trust. The bill’s title appears intentionally written to create an obscene acronym targeting a federal agency, something the Assemblywoman has acknowledged publicly on social media. The legislative process should not be used to sneak vulgar slogans into the official record. The Legislature is not a playground for performative activism. New Jerseyans expect us to govern seriously, write real policy, and respect the institution we serve. My complaint simply asks the ethics committee to review whether using the legislative process to push profane messaging violates the Legislative Code of Ethics. The people of New Jersey deserve better than gimmicks. In the below article Brennan references me calling Assemblyman Danielsen an "Asshole" on a hot mic on the floor a few years ago. She's right I did. But that was in the heat of the moment on a hot mic and not in formal legislative action. I see a difference. Not everyone may. We'll see... newjerseyglobe.com/legislature/go…
