Thank you Hoboken & Jersey City! We truly did it! For now all I will simply say is I am deeply honored to be your Democratic Party nominee — along with @katiebrennan_32 — for Assembly! We look forward to working hand in hand with fellow Democrats to secure victory in November.

The World Cup is the biggest event in the world, relying on thousands of workers to staff ticket lines, clean restrooms, and maintain facilities late into the night. Those workers are the backbone of what makes an event of this scale possible, and they deserve our support. My bill with @katiebrennan_32 reinforces commitments to fair pay, safe workplaces, and protection from exploitation. If New Jersey is going to welcome the world, we have to do it the right way.

Bill A3991, advanced in committee today, would require State Agencies & host municipalities to report on how they plan to uphold human rights and keep residents, workers and visitors safe during the #2026FIFAWorldCup. Bill Sponsors: Asw. @katiebrennan_32 & Asm. @RaviBhalla.

I’m proud of the work we took the past eight years to expand Hoboken’s bike network and this designation is thanks to our substantial focus on creating safer streets for bicyclists and all modes of transportation. I look forward to projects initiated under my administration, like the Sinatra Drive revitalization project that connects our waterfront protected bike lane network, come to life in the years ahead. hudsoncountyview.com/hoboken-gets-s…

Happy Earth Day! 🌍 The pressing need for investments in climate adaptation, reliable transit, and a New Jersey people can afford are all part of the same fight to safeguard our environment. So whether you're a planting tree, riding your bike, or being sustainable elsewhere, thanks for protecting our planet!

Congratulations to Analilia Mejia on her victory in NJ-11 tonight! Analilia ran a fearless campaign centered on working families, and the voters showed up for her message in a big way. Tonight she showed that New Jersey is ready for progressive change. I'm excited to see all she accomplishes in Washington!

Wishing a joyful Vaisakhi to everyone celebrating across Hoboken, Jersey City, and beyond! 🧡🌾 This sacred holiday marks the founding of the Khalsa that established the Sikh identity of service, justice, and standing up for the dignity of all people. As a Sikh American, those values have guided every step of my public service. May the spirit of Vaisakhi inspire a year filled with growth, joy, and shared achievements.

Enjoyed one of my favorite Hoboken traditions: Little League Baseball Opening Day! This year we had the privilege of marching with the legendary 1986 Hoboken High School baseball team. It was great to see so many people coming together to celebrate baseball, our favorite pastime!

Power doesn't just reside in Washington or Trenton. Here in America, power is with the people, and on No Kings Day, the people of Hoboken and Jersey City showed up. I'm proud to represent communities that care so deeply about protecting our immigrant neighbors and defending American democracy. Saturday was just the start. New Jersey will continue standing up for the rights and freedoms of all our residents. That's who we are.

But let’s be clear about who actually lives here. 1 in 5 residents lives below the poverty line, that’s nearly double the statewide rate. 63% of our public school students are economically disadvantaged. The waterfront skyline isn’t the whole story.

Budgets are moral documents, where every dollar spent is a choice about what we value. But right now in New Jersey, a lot of those choices are made without public input, and most people have no idea how the state spends our tax dollars. We're working to change that. We hosted a budget town hall to pull back the curtain on how the state budget gets made, and we're fighting in Trenton for new legislation to make the budget process more transparent.

Hoboken and Jersey City really showed up for No Kings! We were proud to stand with hundreds of our neighbors and join the millions of Americans taking to the streets against fascism. Today and everyday, we'll continue fighting back against rising authoritarianism, Trump's lawlessness, and ICE violence. NO KINGS ❌👑

It was horrifying to learn today the NYPD & FBI were in Hoboken last night to arrest a resident from a terrorist organization, making molotov cocktails in his apartment to assassinate a Palestinian activist. Political violence and terrorism has no place in any civil society. Hoboken is and remains a diverse, welcoming and inclusive community. We are grateful to Hoboken PD, NYPD and federal authorities for disrupting this plot, and thankful the intended target, Ms. Kiswani, was not harmed.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our budget town hall last night and shared what you need from state government! Budgets are about more than numbers and line items but what we prioritize as a state. We're going to take what we heard last night and use that to fight for more transit funding, fixing the school funding formula, and more affordable housing. We're in this together, and we look forward to hearing more about the issues that matter most to you and your family as the budget process moves forward. Contact our offices at the email addresses below with any budget-related questions, comments, or suggestions: asmbhalla@njleg.org aswbrennan@njleg.org

While campaigning for the Assembly, I made a promise to the people of the 32nd District that I would work to codify the Immigrant Trust Directive and protect our immigrant neighbors. Yesterday, I proudly cast my vote for A4071 and made good on that promise. But there's more work to do. This version is the Immigrant Trust Act does not protect certain categories of immigrants who still have lesser due process rights. Because of this shortcoming, I made clear during my floor remarks that this bill does not prevent local mayors from enacting the protections still missing at the state level. In this way, local leaders can show strong leadership and commitment to equal rights for all of our immigrant neighbors. New Jersey will always stand with immigrant families against ICE's lawlessness.

Hard to take anything you say about "respect for the Legislature" seriously when you're the guy who called your colleague an "asshole" on the Assembly floor. And if you have more to say about the name of a bill to protect people from ICE than you do about ICE murdering people...
Assemblyman Bergen@votebergen

Today I filed an ethics complaint regarding a bill introduced by Assemblywoman Katie Brennan titled the “Fight Unlawful Conduct and Keep Individuals and Communities Empowered Act.” Let me be clear: this is not about immigration policy or ICE. People can debate those issues all day long. This is about respect for the Legislature and the public trust. The bill’s title appears intentionally written to create an obscene acronym targeting a federal agency, something the Assemblywoman has acknowledged publicly on social media. The legislative process should not be used to sneak vulgar slogans into the official record. The Legislature is not a playground for performative activism. New Jerseyans expect us to govern seriously, write real policy, and respect the institution we serve. My complaint simply asks the ethics committee to review whether using the legislative process to push profane messaging violates the Legislative Code of Ethics. The people of New Jersey deserve better than gimmicks. In the below article Brennan references me calling Assemblyman Danielsen an "Asshole" on a hot mic on the floor a few years ago. She's right I did. But that was in the heat of the moment on a hot mic and not in formal legislative action. I see a difference. Not everyone may. We'll see... newjerseyglobe.com/legislature/go…
