You Can Tell a Liar You can usually tell an unfaithful person (a liar) by what comes out of their mouth. They will often say, "I promise to have it to you by such and such a time." The key word is "promise." Liars usually have to promise because they know that their simple word isn't enough. Both Jesus and James address this. The Christian should never have to promise to do anything. If he simply says that he will do it, he will do it. His word is his bond. Psalm 15 should be inscribed on the walls of character for every man and woman of God. We can't afford not to keep our word. If we let an unsaved person down by not doing what we said, it kills our testimony. We must be blameless before a godless world if we want to have any credibility in what we preach. A Drowning Child Oswald J. Smith said, "Can we travail for a drowning child, but not for a perishing soul? It is not hard to weep when we realize that our little one is sinking below the surface for the last time. Anguish is spontaneous then. Ah, tears are natural at such a time. But oh, to realize and know that souls, precious, never dying souls, are perishing all around us, going out into the blackness of darkness and despair, eternally lost, and yet to feel no anguish, shed no tears, know no travail! How cold are our hearts!" Let's ask God to forgive us for such coldness toward this perishing world, and then let's show our concern by reaching out with the words of eternal life. Do You Carry Tracts? You and I are in a fight for the souls of the lost. We are told to fight the good fight of faith. Are you armedfor battle? Do you always carry Gospel tracts? They are bullets in your gun. So don't leave home without them. The enemy wants to shoot you to pieces. Here's how to enter combat. Walk up to the enemy. Give him a warm greeting. Say, "Good morning. How are you?" That will disarm him. Then draw! Whip out a tract and ask, "Did you get one of these?" The purpose of the "bullet" is to get him to surrender to your will. Your desire is to speak to him about God, and the tract will quickly get you there. So, get yourself a good reputation as one who is quick on the draw. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Faith and Fear We are in a battle for the lost. The enemy seeks to intimidate you by the use of the weapon of fear. It is meant to paralyze you. Your weapon is faith. It is more powerful than fear. Faith overcomes fear. Your concern is that if you bring up the things of God with a stranger, he will think that you are strange. He will think that you are a religious weirdo. Here's how faith works. Because you have faith in God's Word, you know that if the stranger dies in his sins, he will go to Hell … forever. Love and concern for his eternal salvation will overcome your fear. Simply think of this realityhis worstcase scenario is the Lake of Fire; yours is that a stranger will think that you are strange. You must make the first move. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

You Will Leave Everything The most important day of your life will the day of your death. Think about that. On that day, nothing else will matter except what you have done for God and where you are going. Your house, your car, your money, your sports will mean nothing on that day. You will be leaving time and entering into eternity. Meditate on that breathtaking moment. In the exhale of one breath, you will leave everything you love. Your wedding ring. Your spouse. Your loved ones. Your vehicle. Your money. Everything. Tonight, God could say to you, "This night your soul is required of you." Let such sobering thoughts consume you. Let them drive you to use your life for what matters, to reach out to the unsaved and make a big dent in this sinful world. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Can we know if someone is truly a Christian? Scripture calls us to discern fruit, but ultimately only God sees the heart—so examine yourself first. livingwaters.com/is-president-t…

Never Despise the Law Hopefully, you understand why God gave us The Ten Commandments. They prepare us for the One who can save us from sin and death. The Law of God prepares the soil of the human heart so that it can receive the seed of the Gospel. It convinces us of the disease, so that we can appreciate the cure. J. C. Ryle said, "Never, never let us despise [the Law]. It is the symptom of an ignorant ministry, and unhealthy state of religion, when the Law is reckoned unimportant. The true Christian delights in God's Law." In speaking of the Christian's attitude to the Law, John Wesley said, "Yea, love and value it for the sake of Him from whom it came, and of Him to whom it leads. Let it be thy glory and joy, next to the cross of Christ. Declare its praise, and make it honorable before all men." There goes another minute. Gone forever. Sin is Like Smog Sin is like smogit is not visible while you are in its midst. The Law takes the sinner above the smog of his own perspective and shows him Heaven's viewpoint. It gives him knowledge of his sin. John Bunyan warned, "The man who does not know the nature of the Law cannot know the nature of sin." Martyn LloydJones said, "The trouble with people who are not seeking for a Savior, and for salvation, is that they do not understand the nature of sin. It is the peculiar function of the Law to bring such an understanding to a man's mind and conscience. That is why great evangelical preachers 300 years ago in the time of the Puritans, and 200 years ago in the time of Whitefield and others, always engaged in what they called a preliminary 'Law work.'" Peasant Pilgrimage In Tibet, peasants make a regular pilgrimage around a sacred mountain, stopping every few steps and prostrating themselves on the rocky ground. Then they stand up and repeat the painful ritual. One woman, who had done the 32mile pilgrimage 29 times, was asked why she did it. She said, "We want to be reborn in Heaven." How tragic that humanity thinks that by selfsuffering, they can enter Heaven. They crawl on their bloodied hands and knees, fast certain foods, cut themselves, lie on beds of nails, or sit on hard pews. They think that God will consider their suffering or sacrifice to be a worthy atonement for their sin. Yet, the suffering has been done. Jesus cried, "It is finished!" Because of Calvary, salvation is a free gift. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

Titanic Survivor If you are a Christian, see yourself as a survivor of the Titanic. All around you, people are sinking into the freezing waters of death. There's room in the lifeboat. What are you going to do? You must make every effort to save them. Nothingis more important. Bible commentator, Matthew Henry, said, "The salvation of one soul is of infinitely greater importance than preserving the lives of multitudes. Let us in our several stations keep these things in mind, sparing no pains in God's service, and the event will prove that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. For six thousand years, He has been multiplying pardons, and yet His free grace is not tired nor grown weary. Certainly Divine mercy is an ocean that is ever full and ever flowing."
