Can anyone recommend any cool Japanese music? Can be from any era but preferably real instruments, not electronic. Funk / soul / disco / pop or similar. Are there any Japanese bands that have like a Rolling Stones / Electric Flag feel?

New Orleans the day before was just as nuts. Dylan and the entire Rolling Thunder entourage crashed a Tom Waits concert. Waits was not amused, later terming it the Rolling Blunder Revue. "Before I knew it, fuckin’ Roger McGuinn was up there playing guitar and singing."

Fifty years ago today, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Thunder Revue trekked into the bayou for an alligator cookout with Bobby Charles.

(Johnnie & Jack were a country music duo Bob covered a lot live in the 90s/00s. He did “This World Can’t Stand Long,” “Hummingbird,” “Searching for a Soldier’s Grave” - which he brought back last year!)

Elvis Costello on dueting with Bob Dylan: “As we came off the stage, he said, ‘You sing loud. We should do a record of Johnnie & Jack songs.’ I walked away with his manager and I said, ‘That's never going to happen, right?’” (from the new issue of Mojo)

Last night, Bob Dylan finally ended the Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour. Or did he? Erin Callahan (@inthephishbowl) reports in from Dylan's first-ever concert in Abilene, Texas—definitely the final show of the leg, and perhaps the final show of the entire tour. (There's a tape too!)

Bob Dylan plays his first-ever concert in Abilene TX tonight. But I just discovered working on my Rolling Thunder series that he was scheduled to play there almost exactly 50 years ago. The concert, like a few others on Rolling Thunder 1976, was canceled due to low ticket sales.
