I don’t understand the argument that a project shouldn’t have enforced royalties if they’re raising capital. I mean, one of the main reasons NFTs died was because companies weren’t getting royalties, which made it difficult for them to build a long-term sustainable business. Regardless of whether it’s a free mint or a paid mint, every artist/project deserves royalties if people are trading their collection. No one is here for charity. You can’t expect a project to raise $100K or $1M and run a business forever. No amount of money is enough to grow a sustainable business long term. And if you think $100K or $1M is a lot of money, let me tell you, it’s not. People say ‘incentives’ for trading collections killed NFTs, but in reality, 0% creator fees/royalties are what killed NFTs. People want to mint things for free, don’t want to pay royalties, and then feel ‘entitled’ to everything from the company. I’m not saying that royalties play a major role in every collection, but they still play a significant part in helping teams continue pushing their boundaries. Normalize paid mints. Normalize paying royalties.

I got into crypto because I’ve always loved collecting, and the idea of onchain ownership resonated with me. While my early Web3 career and content centered around NFT-driven IP and gaming, I found my tribe at @GlowFND.
