After some thinking here's my actual interpretation. And this is what makes this noir bittersweet tragedy in the end. Ian loves TJ yes, in a way you love your addiction, oldest scar, formative trauma, and someone you don't need to protect, as they were already ruined. TJ is literally his irredeemable past, and Ian accepted his "wretched fate". BUT he STILL loves Jo as his "purest" or most "precious" love that he wouldn't dare to ruin, and doesn't think he deserves. Ian (artemis) decided to kill his love for Jo Orion, and literally keep him as an eternal star. Jo is Ian's arc's answer: If I ruin everyone I love, at least I shouldn't ruin Jo, the ONE person I wouldn't want to know the rot. Although, he pushes his feelings for Jo away behind a doll house he created so he can live an ideal life with TJ, he does a copy paste on TJ the things he did with Jo, as he's already made Jo an unreachable star. But even this isn't enough, because he looks up at Orion and remembers it, with the meteor overhead, and then LIES to TJ about what he's thinking of, because if he tells TJ the truth, the doll house will shatter. That's why there's no tough emotional talk either, no sorries, no Ian knowing the full truth, because the doll house will literally shatter, and then Ian will end up thinking about the guy he could never actually be with. At the same time you have Jo in the middle of his family life, still thinking of Ian and that photo. The peace he has with his family is "cruel", but he decided to accept that.

All it'll be known for is a love triangle with a toxic fandom, problematic author, rushed nonsensical ending, nothing groundbreaking in the BL scene and deserved, POTN and Mingwa have a legacies because of their writing (POTN) and timing of their releases (Mingwa) with BL's growth

As badly as this story ended I'll never regret starting it for how much I loved Jo, his courage in love, how he could let go despite his love, and how much his love touched his loved ones, I will always love you Joseph Landi 🩵

I think the lesson/moral doesn't come from Tjian as an endgame, it comes from Jo. Jo teaches us that loving too much is not a weakness, that loving will never be wrong, and that if things don't work out, no one will die with a broken heart because u can heal, grow, and move on.
