@john_macgowan Language learning means the kids learn a few basic sentences and how to count and that's it. They forget it soon after and it's all a massive waste of time.

30 years ago, kids learned French and Japanese because they were valuable languages of trade. 20 years ago Mandarin was more common, again, because it had utility. There is zero utility in learning Arabic and Punjabi beyond virtue signalling. Especially since you can now pop in an ear bud and have a conversation translated faster than a human interpreter possibly can.
