@TomFord83939@MartinSLewis It's still relevant. A lot of people have over extended due to low rates without thinking about rates rising. Bigger houses new cars large TVs etc.
The new mortgage forbearance help. How big a change is it? Is it compulsory? What does it mean and how does it work, my new blog explains it blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2023/6/martin-…
If you know someone struggling to afford their mortgage do pass it to them.
@MartinSLewis Just remember we've been here before and made it through. We had 15% plus mortgage rate when I had a young family so had to make sacrifices.
My formal instant response to the measures coming out of this mornings mortgage summit.
"The unprecedented steep rise in mortgage rates is causing a nightmare for many with variable mortgages and those coming off fixes. Therefore, the most important thing we can focus on right now is appropriate, flexible forbearance measures. While the Bank of England’s aim is intended to squeeze people’s disposable incomes, no one wants people’s lives to be ruined by arrears and repossessions – and that is the urgent protection we need to focus on."
“I met the Chancellor on Wednesday and reiterated that the minimum we needed was to ensure that when people asked for help from lenders, they knew that if things changed, it wouldn’t be detrimental to their financial situation and their credit scores would be protected as much as possible."
“I’m pleased to see it looks like the Chancellor has listened. "
@AmericanAir AA delayed our journey by 15 hours. I missed my connection to LHR. I paid for seats on this flight and no one is assisting me with my refund. I've just had an email thanking me for my email and they will try to do better next time!! Plus only a $12 voucher for food.
@SocialistNHS Where will this money come from. NHS already gets lion share of tax raised and striking for more will only take it away from tax payers. The question I keep asking is that in any private sector role if you are unhappy you leave and find another job.
As a nurse...
I'm striking for fair pay.
I'm striking to protect my patients.
I'm striking to save the NHS.
I'm striking as a last resort. Please give us a follow if you support striking NHS workers #SocialistSunday 💙
@KathyBurke Everyone is in the same boat with regards to pay etc. However bwe should not be held hostage by public sector workers like nurses, border force etc.who have safe jobs and good pensions unlike many private sector workers
Just saw my postie, a lovely person & union rep. He said they were so sorry for letting people down with the strikes. As if!
These brilliant people, NHS staff and public transport workers served ALL OF US during the pandemic.
The least we can do is show our support to them now.
@sgchelsea23@MartinSLewis Let's not forget that in 80's prices were lower but rates were up to 15% so most of the salary went to mortgage. It was difficult and although prices are high now it was no easier
@MartinSLewis Sorry Martin but you are completely wrong. With the average price of a house nowadays there is NO WAY interest rates stay as the norm at 5-7%. Itll go and flat line to around 1.5% again. When though who knows. But it will
Historically, the last 15yrs interest rates are an anomaly, limboing far below prior lows.
Many, especially those who don't remember before, may think today's rapid rises'll reverse in future.
Don't assume that. There's always a chance the old norm 5 - 7% rates return long term
@virginmedia Can someone with any sort of authority ring me as no sense or help from anyone. Service is shameful from support, customer service don't want to know and you want money to cancel a non operational service.
@virginmedia So what happened no contact as promised. Now lost all services again! 2 hours on phone and cut off twice. Unable to help and managers refusing to come to phone, appalling. How the hell do i cancel as you want money from me to cancel a contract for no service.
@virginmedia after 6 months of misery, 6 hubs More than a dozen engineers still can use BB or TV. Cannot get engineer for a week. Utterly disgusting and you want fees to disconnect???
@virginmedia Total loss of service for days at a time. Internet out TV services not working, 5 router changes, tests etc.
This needs managers involvement as sick and tired of being told to reset everything when I know it won't solve the issue
@rayputtock Thanks for coming back to us Ray! Was the technician able to improve or resolve your connection issues in the appointment? What sort of issues are you having? A slow or intermittent connection? Wi-Fi coverage issues? ||MT
@rayputtock Hey Ray, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry you need to wait a week for an engineer. Sometimes when it is busy there could be a wait on one sorry. What has been going on with the router / connection? ^MM
Our apologies again for the disruption affecting the #ES9059 following the electrical issue outside Paris earlier. You are now due to arrive at 02.00am. Please check compensation entitlement bddy.me/38PxAq3 at least 24 hours after travel.
@Eurostar Delayed on Thursday on outward journey due to fatality. Today stuck in Paris and should have left at 12.13. No trains until at least 16.00 and there are services in front of us delayed.
4 day break in Paris reduced to 2 full days only...
Well on my return trip and today no Eurostar trains due to a power failure. Another excuse different day and no information on when departure may happen
Last time for me
