There’s a lovely article on @BBCNews today about the ancient well in the crypt of Glasgow Cathedral and the archaeological dig to undercover its secrets as part of #Glasgow850 Led by the Aproxima Creative Collective team, the work, which was part funded by @GlasgowHeritage includes a very beautiful glass mosaic installation by Scottish artist Joanna Kessel which celebrates and draws attention to what is arguably the starting point of the city of Glasgow and underscores its deep spiritual significance: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

A cornucopia of Tyne adjacent wonders in this photo. You can also see the North Yorkshire moors in the distance.

One wonders if Richard would even let him pray here - let alone spend his Dollars on Cotswold produce, driving in some small way… economic growth and prosperity. An advert for the wonder of rural England. I suspect after his trip he’ll not bother again anytime soon

😍 From major attractions and tours to hidden gems and outdoor activities, there's a wealth of exciting experiences and events across Stirling for visitors and residents to enjoy. Each day this week ,we're focusing on the theme of culture to inspire your next trip to Stirling - and to showcase why the area welcomed record numbers of visitors in 2024. Stirling was recently crowned Scotland’s cultural capital in a new study so it’s the perfect destination for culture vultures. A key hub for Stirling’s arts and cultural activity is the Tolbooth. This award-winning venue blends in the heart of the medieval city centre, blends historic architecture with contemporary design, hosting live performances, artists’ studios and a wide range of creative events. Split across two rooms in the building, the Tolbooth Gallery has hosted some first-rate fine art works, wonderful exhibits from local amateur visual art collectives and renowned new media exhibitions. All are free to view On Saturday 2 August, the Tolbooth Gallery will welcome a new exhibition, in partnership with the Stirling Photography Festival and Street Level Photoworks of Glasgow: Beyond Home by Ron O’Donnell. Ron is a photographic artist renowned for his dazzling constructed and narrative photographs. His images are vibrant, daring and humorous and have touched upon allegory, myth, identity, mortality, and politics. Some very sad images in this report of the recent demolition of St Ninian's Parish Church, Greenock. Designed by Church of Scotland architect Harry Taylor and built 1959-61, the bold Dalle de Verre stained glass cross was by John Lawrie. All now gone.😢 inverclydenow.com/in-pictures-de…

PS - as is usually the case when the National Trust talks about sacking staff, we find in the most recent accounts (2023/4) that top executive pay has gone up.
