@JJ_Denhollander @DavidAFrench People are going to hate DST in the winter and it will be dangerous. They should make ST permanent.

@DavidAFrench Why would we make daylight savings time permanent and not standard time? I'm very confused.

One danger of the Internet is the temptation to constantly be everywhere, except where we are. We weep for our nation but neglect our neighbor. We ignore our family but keep up with others' families. We worry about others' sins but overlook our own. Beware of this temptation.

During a visit to the Isle of Man, The King sat down with James Fenton, a 104-year-old Burma Star veteran. James is one of the last surviving veterans of the Burma Campaign. His Majesty previously met him at commemorations for the 80th anniversary of VJ Day in 2025.

Best clue that someone desires more than anything to be “elite” is they are complaining about the “elite.” 🤣

@NancyAFrench @lesleymb I still think about your story in your book. It was an outstanding read and unfortunately, very relatable.

Reading through my vacation stack and Ghosted by @NancyAFrench is going on my Mt. Rushmore of biographies. I have not been so deeply moved by a book since Tara Westover's Educated. I cannot recommend it enough.

@WolfofX Maybe the bigger point is that the child in Tallahassee is not wrong - ongoing loneliness is an emergency.

A six year old boy in Tallahassee, Florida, was feeling lonely. So in May 2019, without his mother knowing, he picked up the phone and called 911. When the dispatcher asked what was wrong, the little boy had a simple reason. He wanted a friend. Tallahassee Police Officer Joe White was sent to the home. When he arrived, the boy came outside and asked him a question no officer probably expects to hear on a 911 call. Would he be his friend? Officer White said yes. He gently explained that 911 was only for emergencies, but he did not punish or embarrass the boy for reaching out. Instead, he spent time with him. He let him sit inside the patrol car, showed him some of the equipment officers use, and gave him a stuffed animal to remember the visit. Before leaving, Officer White made sure the boy understood something important. He had a friend. A child called the emergency line because loneliness felt like an emergency. And one officer chose kindness as his response

@IsaacLHarris I got the knock on my door in November about my Mom. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing someone this way is such a shock. I hope you have good support around you.

these last seven or so days started with a phone call & police knocking on my door in Texas to tell me news back home & ended with me using one of my dad’s shovels to fill in his grave for one last landscaping job together here in Kentucky. I really can’t explain these last days or the numb feeling. i’m an only child & he lived by himself. I don’t have one of those massive tv families. But I can’t thank enough the old & new people that have been present for my family. the people who traveled up from Dallas for the funeral, my cousins, my long time guys from high school, my church, listeners of our mavs show & the mavs organization itself. every time I feel alone I remind myself of many of you. I can’t thank you enough. I also want to thank both of my jobs. my job at Irving Bible Church & covering the Mavs at Locked On. both have been beyond gracious for time away & my family is beyond thankful. And my wife & my mom. my two rocks that words can’t describe. idk what the days and weeks ahead look like, but so much of your support has meant so much.
Isaac Harris@IsaacLHarris

this morning I got the phone call that rocks your world. my dad passed from a heart attack last night. 61 years old. i’ll be out from mavs coverage for a bit, but nick is the goat and has @LockedOnMavs going strong if you’re the praying type, i’d appreciate any prayers u have

My dad has a PhD in psychology, a masters of theology, speaks three languages, but you'd probably never guess that these days. Dementia worsens and it's heartbreaking. Death will come, but it feels like I've already lost so much of him. Dementia is a merciless thief.💔

Ten years ago, a son gave his father something most people will never have to give. His bone marrow. David Andrew was fighting non Hodgkin lymphoma, and his son Joshua became his donor. The transplant helped save his father's life. Years passed. Then David's kidneys began to fail. Once again, Joshua stepped forward. But doctors discovered something remarkable. Because of the bone marrow transplant years earlier, father and son now had matching immune systems. Joshua's kidney was considered a perfect match. In January 2025, Joshua donated his kidney to his father. The same son. The same father. Two different battles, ten years apart. And twice, when his father's life was in danger, Joshua gave a part of himself to keep him here. Some sons give their fathers gifts. Joshua gave his father more time. Twice.

This woman is lethal -- marvelously so.
J.K. Rowling@jk_rowling

Poor effort, @deano_tony. You could have easily crammed in a few more insulting references to female genitalia yet managed only a measly two. Maybe that seems a lot to you, being double the number you've seen in real life? On which subject, fondest regards to your mother.

While on our short visit back to Australia, it's been delightful to reconnect with our dog, Bear. Bear goes wild every time we reappear, but is living his best life on the farm with kids who love him. One of the boys, who is turning 8 (just like Bear) asked me: Did you know that Bear symbolizes love? He symbolizes the love between our families even when we are far apart.

I have counseled and pastored for many years, and one of the things that has impressed me over and over again is how self-deluded people can be. Including me. It's amazingly difficult to see ourselves with accuracy. We see other people with a fairly high degree of accuracy, but we don't seem to see ourselves with the same precision.

The single most directly influential relationship in my life growing up was my relationship with my sister.
Brad Wilcox@BradWilcoxIFS

Why are teens struggling? It's not just the screens, argues @CRPakaluk. It's the lack of siblings. Great @nytopinion: "We hear constantly that Americans are more atomized, more polarized, more isolated than ever. Some say it’s the screens. Some say it’s social media. . . The mothers I interviewed pointed to a different explanation. --> we have lost the primary institution where virtues are formed — the household in which children form one another." nytimes.com/2026/06/29/opi…

@audrawrongspeak Your body adapts. Lived most of my life in a dry area. It took some adjusting, but now I don't mind it that much. I like to cycle and walk outdoors, so in the hot months I do that earlier in the morning. Drink lots of water.

Okay so this is a sincere question to anyone who lives in Florida or any similar weather. What do you do? Sincerely, how do you keep everyone (especially babies and children) safe in this type of heat and humidity? Do you just stay inside all day? That seems kind of lame. The heat is one thing, I’ve been to El Paso Texas and was fine, it’s this humidity. It was so humid this morning my glasses began to fog up when I kissed my baby on the head in the carrier at 8am 😭

@korinreid I've been using Tretinoin for over a decade. It has made a massive difference in my skin. It took me over a year to work up to every day use and that was on .25 (lowest dose). The key is consistency, but I am super glad I stayed with it.

Tretinoin is that girl. If you want clear skin and fewer wrinkles, call your derm to get a prescription. I get mine through asynchronous text based tele-visits via my insurance portal. I have been using since I was a teen. After trying everything otc and lots of tears, my dad

I love tretinoin. I recommend it all the time. But I also see people quit because no one taught them how to use it correctly. Here are the 3 biggest mistakes I see. 👇🏽

Can we all agree the real winner of the World Cup is the visiting fans? The Tartan Army showed up in Boston, nearly emptied every bar in the city, somehow cleaned up after themselves, turned Miami bars into bagpipe concerts playing Avicii, and took every traffic cone in their way 🤣 Norwegian fans took over a Cubs-Mets game because...why not? England fans discovered line dancing and looked like they'd been waiting their entire lives to yell "YEEHAW." Thousands of international fans are trying to sneak bottles of ranch through TSA like it's a priceless American artifact. 🤣🤣🤣 And watching people take their first bite of a Publix Chicken Tender Pub Sub has been better entertainment than half the matches. This tournament has basically become one giant exchange program where America says, "Here's ranch, Publix, and baseball," and the rest of the world says, "Cool...we're borrowing your city for a week." Honestly, I'm here for it. #WorldCup #tartanarmy #FIFA
