Ok, I’ll bite. RE: #RWC2023 and DMCA and copyright strikes. I fully understand that World Rugby is protecting their most profitable product and that a large chunk of the game is funded by RWCs. Broadcasters play a massive role in that. Here and it comes. BUT! Not allowing fans and content creators the opportunity to share clips and snippets from games means that we are being dictated to on how the tournament must be enjoyed, as we are only getting to see and share what is being thrust upon us. I haven’t seen any scrum appreciation videos shared on the official channels or lineout steals. These are just a few of the small moments some will appreciate more than others. Some other finer details and moments make the World Cup even more enjoyable. Dan Biggar going off was a widely discussed topic, but you won’t see that on an official channel - understandably. But for the fans, it matters. What we are being shown is handpicked, and if there is another moment you want to share or discuss, tough. We all knew this would happen, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing or annoying.

You know the summer holidays are near the end when you get questions like "why is air see through?" and "why do spiders like corners so much?" 🤯

@tastapod Most of the ones I've played with my kids have been mentioned, I'll just add Tsuro and Get Bit as a couple of quick and easy one to pick up. I heard about them on this show a few years ago youtu.be/NMtlQxJeWvc

I've no idea what's going on with this, but feel like I should. My best guess is they're selling some kind of cybermobile for rushing to incident response like Batman...

@madplatt Same here, I think the firms I heard about could end up running it like 1LOD risk, helps the business understand but maybe not get stuff done. Firms doing something like squads/guilds might benefit by putting some engineering under that team, others might end up with turf wars...

@rdevans_net Thanks. I’m generally curious about what the effects would be of adding to that reporting line reliability related functions that do more than just “arms length” type work and much more@operational in nature

Y’all aren’t paying attention to how tech teams manage large complex systems. And IMO, if we keep (as industry) not paying attention, I reckon in a few years we’ll see it normalised that Infosec reports to Reliability related functions, as they’re more willing to engage with work

@madplatt I've not seen too much from them since. But in terms of mapping what was going on, understanding the risks, and running exercises that helped all the areas learn what's needed to make things better, I think it looked like a decent place to start

@rdevans_net Thanks for that. You reckon that went well ? I wonder how the different specialisms work under the same roof 🙂

@madplatt It was interesting to hear how different firms approached implementing the FCAs Operational Resilience rules in the run up to the first deadline. A few had started to create one team managing resilience mapping, infosec, BCP, etc. Some real benefits there for regulated firms

Not sure that’s generally a bad thing either, it may be very beneficial but let’s see what the next few years bring 🙂

It's been an fascinating process, looking at how everything comes together to deliver a service, and understanding all the possible impacts of getting it wrong. All really valuable information for ensuing you're using your systems, processes and people in the best possible way

Today's the day where the new Operational Resilience rules come into effect for financial services firms. I imagine this has been a much more comfortable process for the ones that have prioritised robust, sustainable practices that are focused on delivering good outcomes!
