the problem is that burgers literally EVERYWHERE ELSE are trash. i’ve never had a burger outside the united states that wasn’t complete ass. they are unfairly represented as a result.

Today I'm gonna walk you through how satellites interfere with every wavelength of astronomy--- BOTH ground AND space based. Important to know: there are 4k functioning satellites in orbit. 400,000 are in various stages of production.

@stellarmorticia To preserve the links the first solution would be best. Let me know if you decide to put it on your website. (Better than doing an unroll please.)

Mapping the Milky Way is one of Gaia's main science goals. What better place to hear about the latest status than at the @lorentzcenter workshop on "Mapping the Milky Way: Galactic Cartography in the Age of High Precision Parallaxes". Summary? Here you go: cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/iow_2…

@galaxy_map Maybe both connect to the Sag segment.. At least they put the Sag and Car segments in different colors. Working on some data that may clarify (or further confuse) this issue. P.S. You are lucky I checked Twitter. It's a holiday in Italy: Liberation Day. Or "No more Nazis" Day.

How can we tell, for example, that the Sagittarius segment (cyan) actually connects to the Carina segment (green) and not the Local segment (blue)? A review of the masers seems to me to show a closer connection (at least in position) between the Sagittarius and Local masers.

Interesting new paper. I remain skeptical that the data shows any obvious pattern without the imposed spiral arm race tracks. Even if we do see some maser or cluster segments, how they connect into larger structures is not nearly as obvious as some people claim.

@nktgill Amen to that. And on another personal note, as true as this poem may be, having a child was the best decision I've made. Being better parents than our own is a worthy life challenge.
