@traumamom4 This can be a complex and controversial component but increased patient to nurse ratios in the current healthcare state mean less contact/stimulation/and attention which I suspect are having an effect on delirium, early detection of adverse events, etc in this vulnerable group.

I salute the @AmCollSurgeons for not shying away from controversy: no appendectomy or cholecystectomy during the pandemic? Might keep patients longer in the hospital but potentially decrease risk of postoperative complications & staff exposure. Thoughts, acute care surgeons?
