“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44) The verb “draws” here, “helko,” is translated “drag” in both James 2:6 and Acts 21:30. It never means “to woo” or to “winsomely draw a person to oneself."

To validate their standing before God, perfectionists and legalists look to their past achievements. Christians, saved by God’s grace alone, look only to Christ’s blood.

Understanding our weaknesses and failings is actually a good thing because the awareness of them makes us more dependent upon Christ, through Whom our strength comes.

I was in a desperate situation when the Lord saved me over 50 years ago, and I still need His help desperately. But He has given me hope and strength for every situation in life.

AS CHRISTIANS, we are to "fear" the Lord, but we're not to be afraid of the Lord. To “fear” the Lord gives us boldness and strength, strong confidence and security.

The phrase, "the fear of the Lord," is not the fear perfect love casts out (1 John 4:18), but the fear that love brings in.

We must never forget that God is responsible to no one for His actions and judgments. Our sinful minds are at enmity with God’s truth. Even as believers, we still struggle to believe the deep, difficult things of His Word.

 God’s Word must stand supreme above all of man’s traditions.
