Last year I planted Orobanche minor on a newly established cutting of Brachyglottis 'Sunshine' in my front garden. When weeding this morning when I saw the remains of this year's flower spikes. O. hederae on my ivy planned. @thorogoodchris1 @drmgoeswild @BSBIbotany #Orobanchaceae

Mermaid gin is made here - Isle of Wight Distillery. The #gin includes rock samphire (Crithmum maritimum #Apiaceae) which gives a slightly salty tang. Perhaps the best marketing ploy is the blue bottle! The Bodicea hops are grown @Ventnor_Botanic - photographed yesterday.

#PlantADay 7. Splachnaceae #mosses are a bit macabre. They thrive in nitrogen-rich environments, including animal droppings, old bones, & rotting carcasses. Many also enlist the aid of flies for spore dispersal by enticing them with pungent scents and brightly-colored sporophytes
