Julius Randle went to New York. Made a poverty Knicks team a playoff team. He averaged 24/10/6 on 40% from deep. Joining Larry Bird and Nikola Jokic as the only players to average those numbers. He goes to Minnesota. Struggling organization. They go to the conference finals. Second round multiple years in a row. Milwaukee. I’m telling you. This is the player you trade Giannis for

@RSutter34286 what does any of that have to do with the product of NBA basketball, that's all about maybe a dozen kids making financial decisions

@SethDavisHoops I agree. Last year there 8-10 draft picks who returned. This year maybe more, and could be some superstars opting back in. Play 35 games instead of 100 for near same money

@SethDavisHoops That is freaking hilarious, since when does anyone care about the NBA? It’s killing the SOUL of college basketball where the goal was to get a scholarship at a university to get an education, and if you were good enough, have a chance to play in the NBA.

@JDubOfInTheNO @HPbasketball yeah this is it, plus it felt like the top of the west was loaded with hall-of-famer-led teams, maybe even other would-be dynasties. who fits that bill now? they came up after Steph/Warriors, now it's Jokic/Denver and... Ant/Wolves? Wemby/Spurs and Luka/Lakers maybe some day soon

@Travel_Cowboy @KirkSeriousFace and because of that, Flagg will find his way onto many more all-nba teams and MVP conversations over the next 10 years. but he's putting up moderately better counting numbers on a substantially worse team. Flagg having a better future outlook shouldn't matter for this year

Maybe they could create "Most Valuable Rookie". The fact that Kon doesn't lead that team in anything other than 3s tells me that Ball and Miller are far more responsible for the winning (their health is the biggest driver). He's a fantastic role player for them. Coop is a star you build around. Kon is what you build with.

Well, the fact is the Hornets are winning, and the Mavericks are not. I like that argument in favor of Kon. I think it’s a good one. The hornets are a good story. The challenge here is that has never before in my time covering the sport been a parameter for winning ROY
Rob@robwatson22

@KirkSeriousFace It’s driving me insane that all these people want to point to efficiency stats but absolutely refuse to discuss what’s happening on the court that causes those stats. Put down the sorting button and watch a game or 2.

@HPbasketball it's not that the future is uncertain, awards should capture snapshots of the league. especially since we have the internet now, basketballreference youtube etc, so people can go back and find context easier than ever before. but I also thought Melo should've won ROY over Bron

I've made my position clear on this: I think the awards are based on resume and accomplishment during the season. But I'm curious what you think: Should voters consider that Flagg is VERY LIKELY to look like a top-five player down the line when evaluating Rookie of the Year?

@LoganPAdams I had him as a top-3 prospect before the draft but the three guys over Clingan on that list have all shown 2-way star potential. (though if you bumped Kyshawn down to 4 I wouldn't argue.) he just has to be more of a scorer to put himself definitively over Castle and Sarr

@RedNinetyFour what does this season look like if FVV gets hurt before a KD trade? assuming that halts the KD plan, nobody's then thinking about this team as a tier-1 contender, FVV's absence is probably not under-indexed in the discourse, vibes probably much better, more possessions for Amen

Not gonna lie - it's getting really hard to invest time watching this team right now. You have the GM saying it's not our year but then the coach not developing the one guy that needs development.

@DaGodDame @HPbasketball it's actually okay to remain skeptical when the argument for a team being the best in the league is a great first half of a regular season. enjoy it! but that team has sucked for a long time and popular opinion doesn't shift overnight, nor should it

@HPbasketball to get NBA media to believe in the best team in the NBA is like pulling teeth. I get it though, that 28 game loosing streak was too recent, all this still seems unbelievable even as a fan

I have the Pistons with about a 20% chance to win the title based on the rest of their season's schedule and the projected matchups from there. Odds have them about 6%. I'm not rushing out, but it's an interesting gap considering how they're perceived. Inexperience is the obvious hit but they made the playoffs last year, young team in OKC won last year. They can win the possession game, they are 23-9 in Clutch games. They're great mid-range shots which are high-leverage in playoffs. I worry about the Math problem for them, but possession advantage can mitigate that. They hit 40 before 20. They're going to be a top 3 seed. They are 21-6 at home. I'm wondering if I need to believe in them a little more.

The only reason they have 82 games is because we have forever had 82 games! We are not changing the history. Players according to you are faster, stronger and better. 82 should be a piece of cake. We did it flying commercial, 3 star hotels and 1 trainer! Stop babying!
