Buffalo is making a GM change Jarmo Kekalainen for Kevyn Adams

Nazem Kadri said he is a fan of the #Flames "for life" 🥹

There’s something that we don’t think enough people around the hockey world are talking about right now and that’s the job Ryan Huska is doing as Head Coach of the Calgary Flames. Coaching in the @NHL is never easy, but this season has presented Huska with a number of serious challenges that many coaches would struggle to navigate. Over the course of the year, the Flames have lost some incredibly important pieces to their lineup. Recently the team lost both MacKenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri, two players who are major parts of Calgary’s leadership group and play massive roles in every situation. Earlier in the season, they also lost Rasmus Andersson, another cornerstone defenseman who plays huge minutes and is relied upon heavily on both sides of the puck. When you lose players of that caliber, it doesn’t just impact the lineup, it affects leadership, matchups, special teams, and the entire structure of your team. Yet despite all of that adversity, Ryan Huska has continued to keep the Flames competitive. You can see it in the way the team still plays with structure, effort, and accountability. The systems are still in place, the compete level is still there, and the players continue to buy into what the coaching staff is asking of them. That’s the sign of a coach who has the respect of his locker room. What’s even more impressive is how Huska has had to integrate new players into the lineup throughout the year while maintaining the team’s identity. That balancing act is incredibly difficult at the NHL level. Good coaches don’t just manage the games, they manage the adversity. And right now Ryan Huska is doing exactly that. Sometimes coaches don’t get the recognition they deserve unless a team is at the very top of the standings, but anyone who really understands the game can see the work that’s being done behind the bench in Calgary. In my opinion, Ryan Huska has done a fantastic job with the circumstances he’s been given this season. #NHL #Flames @NHLFlames
