Cravings hit. Fridge calls. You stand there debating, my friend. Stop. Breathe. This isn't hippie stuff. It's biology, and it's the fastest reset I know. → Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds → Hold for 7 → Exhale slowly through the mouth for 8 That long exhale flips your nervous system from fight-or-flight (sympathetic) into rest-and-respond (parasympathetic). Within seconds your heart rate drops, your reactive brain quiets, and your prefrontal cortex (the thinking brain) fires back up. Two takeaways, my friend: 1. You start thinking clearly again. 2. You get a moment of awareness. And awareness is everything. In that quiet second you can ask the real question. Am I physically hungry?? Or am I emotionally hungry?? If it's emotional, don't feed your feelings. Feel them. Be aware of them. Then choose what to do next. Stop staring at the scale, my friend. Your body is staging a prison break. Most of us start this journey for the surface stuff. The number. The mirror. The fit of the jeans. Happy Mother’s Day to every amazing mom out there. 💙 And I’m using the word “mom” with a lot of flexibility today, because mom isn’t just one shape. Mom is the biological mom who carried you. Mom is the adoptive mom who chose you. Mom is the stepmom who showed up and stayed. Mom is the grandma who quietly stepped in and became mom all over again. And every beautiful soul in between. If the scale is up 3 pounds the day after a hard workout... stop freaking out, my friend. That's a huge score. It's not fat. It's water. Every gram of glycogen your muscles store pulls 3 to 4 grams of water along with it. You run a tough lift, you deplete your glycogen, you refuel afterward, and your body floods both back into the muscle. The scale spikes for 24 to 48 hours. Then it drops. Walking after dinner isn't a fat loss tool, my friend. It's a fat loss WEAPON. Most people miss this one. It's free. 10 minutes. Done. Here's the biology that makes it wild: When your muscles contract, they pull glucose out of your bloodstream WITHOUT needing insulin. That's GLUT4 doing its job. Glucose transporter type 4. Activated by movement, not by hormones. So when you walk right after a meal, the sugar from dinner gets vacuumed straight into your muscles for energy, instead of spiking your blood sugar and getting stored as fat. I want to tell you about Brenda. A few months ago, I showed up unannounced at her door in Mesa, Arizona. Former powerlifter. Ranked in New Mexico. Breast cancer survivor. She just got her second clear MRI. And a woman who just wanted to feel powerful again. She has been a part of the TransformNation community for a while now, lost 10 pounds, and kept it off, but wanted to see more progress…not just on the scale but with her fitness too. So we made a deal. Let’s get her back to her power. 4 months. 10 push-ups. I’ll be real - I thought 5 would be a victory. The other day, I went back. Brenda dropped down and started knocking out full push-ups from her toes. Seeing as far as she got in 4 months, I cannot imagine where she’ll be in 4 more! And she is just getting started. Part 2 of what I started sharing this week. 💙 Here's what I know now that I didn't fully know then. Transformation was never about the diet. It was never about the workout program. Those things matter but they're tactics. And tactics without the right foundation?? They fail. What I know now is that lasting change lives at the intersection of your BELIEF SYSTEM, your BEHAVIOR, then your BIOLOGY. In that order. When we built TransformNation, we built it around that truth. The science of how your body actually works. The neuroscience of why habits form and break. And the human connection that makes it all sustainable. Just the right system, the right science, and a community that actually stays in it with you.
