@RealismHelps @DavidSm06579669 @ClarkeMicah @thesoubr I am not a driver, but there is no doubting the convenience of transport in one's own car. Even taxis cannot do the job well ("he'll be there in 45 minutes"). The Uber revolution may improve matters, since their response time is usually much faster.

.@thesoubr. 1/2 Somebody has to hate them, or they would take over the world. People who lived outside big cities were quite able to travel before cars were invented, especially once the country was covered in the dense net of railways which has since been moronically ripped up.
JoBo@thesoubr

@SlipdeGarcon @ClarkeMicah Mr Hitchens is entitled to his views (of course.) But it is genuinely strange to me how anyone could HATE cars. It seems to me that a car critic/skeptic should also acknowledge their obvious benefits e.g. individual freedom of travel (esp. for folks living outside of big cities.)

Can someone please revolutionise holiday car hire so you sort all the documents out online beforehand and then simply use a code to pick up the keys.

I don’t like saying this. But especially in America , I do think most offices are massively over staffed. The number of people tripping over each other , just attending meetings, just doing busy stuff all day long is insane. People create work, and delay decision making. And then , about one person in 15 , actually needs a huge team but someone has nobody I don’t think the solution is to fire people, I just think companies should be doing more. Take any large company and it’s quite surprising how little stuff they actually put out that matters. Think of all the things they could be doing

@RealismHelps @tomfgoodwin Yep. Certainly do. It’s only when service (not a dirty word) departments start running things and generating busywork that things start going south.

@markchristie @tomfgoodwin Sometimes - but (in the case of HR for example) the lunatic & predatory employment laws of the UK require some expertise to navigate safely through and with Tribunals awarding '000s against employers for tiny admin issues, they pay for themselves?

@tomfgoodwin At some point, companies become large enough that the ‘service’ departments (HR, IT, finance) start imposing process on the people who make the money. Feeding the resulting busywork cycle becomes the company’s function.

I keep seeing comments slagging off Arsenal’s worldwide fans like they are somehow not worthy compared to ‘Bob’ who used to stand on the North Bank after slipping the doorman sixpence. Winning the league costs a bomb and worldwide merch sales and TV cash make it possible.

@CR2SE25 So Dowman, Timber & Odegaard are unlikeable - please share in what way? Fan TV and Vloggers exist across every club, most of whom have their own 'anthem'. Jealous Palace fan with one trophy ever?

I'm gonna say this once lol. It is not racist to not like Arsenal, or their fans. To me, they represent the direction football is going in on and off the pitch. Unlikable players. Vloggers outside stadiums, begging for selfies, forced reactions, fan tv, 'north London forever'
Reazon uk@Reazonuk

@N5toN7r @CR2SE25 It really annoys me if there IS a racial element to this , because I've seen two types of distinct celebrations if u can call it that. One is your standard singing & chanting and the rest is people dancing about to music. The latter I wonder , is what's triggering ppl because...

1976, eh...🤔 20% excess deaths, huge spike in A&E visits, colossal animal deaths, huge eco damage that lasts to this day, £2.7bn (adj inf) of crops failing - resulting in 12% food price, millions£££ of repairs for road & rail, businesses closed & job losses++.
Jen k 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@Jenny_1884

It was hotter in 1976 than it is now so these people spewing this nonsense need to sit this one out. Who remembers the heatwave in 1976? We had fun & lived to tell the tale

.@trph2. As long as mass private car ownership is the norm, a large share of drivers will becbad.A truly effective test would reject too many people.
Trph@trph2

@ClarkeMicah @PaulRiley166585 I may disagree re: cars, I think the problem is bad drivers. But that’s a really good idea about the wreckage
